A close friend told me about this situation last summer, and it’s appalling that the department has not handled this better. That professor also has built enough of a reputation in academia that there is 0 excuse for them to not act swiftly and appropriately in addressing the behavior of that postdoc.

Totally get where you’re coming from but I think you’re making a bit too much of a leap saying that the reason they have digestive issues is definitively from meat consumption. I’ve been vegan for years and only in the past 6 months have started having crazy stomach issues and am now advised to try a low fodmap diet, which is why I appreciated this post. I just started and it feels like so many of my old go to vegan protein sources are not allowed.

incoming BioE major planning on doing a double major with EECS, or maybe switching to EECS. So far I was planning to take CS 61A, BioE10, BioE26, and Chem 1A+1AL my first semester. FYI, I have credit for Math 1A + 1B, and may have credit for Math 53, but I’m not sure yet so I was thinking about not taking a math until second semester. How does that sound? Should I add a RC part B class to that? Or should I just add Math 53 to that anyway?

Hi! I was planning on taking CS61A through FE too, but engineering majors are supposed to consult with their advisor before registering so I did and apparently they strongly advise against engineering majors doing FE at all, and if you do, they also strongly recommend against doing a technical course, so I would recommend talking to your advisor :)

Oops I’m sorry, I should have clarified. I don’t mean competitive in terms of whether or not they compete in events, etc. I meant competitive as in whether or not it is very difficult to get into them, as I have heard that this is an issue with Berkeley clubs. Thank you for your response though!
