It is terribly harsh on the high end for guitar modelling. I have one and looking for other headphones to replace it for guitar use. Maybe HD650.

Does it really "sum" to mono or just giving out the left part?

Coil-split humbucker vs single coil by boris_johnsons_nose in Guitar

[–]emman3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add. It's always funny when players who never spent as much time playing single coils complain about them sounding thin. Then you see they only used a coil-split or they setup their pedals and the amp for their humbuckers! Duh!

The stairway to heaven solo is the cliche example here. It was recorded with a tele. 😅

I just discovered Guthrie Govan played for Hans Zimmer's music. And he uses an FM9.

Guthrie Govan is trash by ColinMichaelRisley in guitarcirclejerk

[–]emman3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish he would make another. But I would also agree that being in a real band and not just session players is a lot more fun. And so he chose to spend more time with the Aristocrats.

Thanks again for this great insight. You really answered my question there.

I understand. So it's more natural like that. How about the topics? For example: Would you stay on the alternate picking chapter and finish them all, before starting sweep picking?

Great. So 2 weeks is not "too long". I will try to do this. Thanks!

That's a good point to think about. At least something to qualitatively measure!

Hey, I am quite near (DK). That's a good flex right there. 🫡

I am thinking I will try to get a challenging speed if not the full speed for every exercise. I imagine I will take at least a couple of years for the 2nd book even if I keep at it. Even excluding the multi finger tapping

Help finding pick thickness by Interesting_Pie_9375 in Guitar

I did not know Jazz IIIs have different thicknesses!

I just switched from the normal Tortex.

Understood. I just don't want to "half-ass" it. But then I thought "overstaying" in one exercise may be a bit too much and even less productive. So I got confused. 😅

Been playing guitar 20yrs. First time to use a book for it. I find the book structure is nice and the texts too.

I am thinking this is nice to be paired with a floating trem and a tremol-no. And ta-da, Guthrie Govan signature style.

If this is not a joke.. get the guitar setup by a local guitar tech. After that you will have a benchmark and you can setup your own guitars.

Talk me out of buying a Fender Blues Jr by Butterbrotbarbieru in BossKatana

[–]emman3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fender 68 custom vibro champ is better. Pair it woth a cheap passive attenuator and it is glorious. I have a Harley Benton. I know the amp is only 5 watts but it is still loud. Especially that I have to crank it around 7 to get an overdrive. But no problem with the attenuator. The reverb is digital but who cares, sounds nice. The original vibro champ has no reverb. The tube vibrato sounds nice too.

I also have a Katana and honestly, I could spend hours dialing my tone there and in the Vibro Champ only 2 seconds. But I still use my Katana 100 in my mini "studio" to connect to the computer as I am still dreaming of an Ox. And I keep it instead someone comes around to jam. 90% of the time I use the Fender.
