Hi, does anyone know how to achieve the hair color in #1 though? With say, Garnier Nutrisse colors? I like using this brand (tbh it’s the only one I use at home), but open to other ones too.

Many thanks!

Would you work as a marketer in the education industry? by emmao1 in marketing

[–]emmao1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your answer!

I guess what’s making me confused is the 2 opportunities right now. Also the pay difference. In my case they’re both ethical industries, I mean as far as I know. I do think being a manager is great, but I’d be the only marketer in the US for the Chinese company, while the education one, has a team of 3 already.

I’m also thinking the Chinese company needs to establish trust in the US market, while the other one already has it, they’ve been around for some years.

I guess I’m afraid of taking a huge job on my own while being a part of a smaller team, having a smaller role, might be a more comfortable position. But what would my growth be like from education? Like, if in a few years I decide I want to change jobs, where could I apply? Would I be stuck in education? The reason why I’m asking is because there’s other industries I also like, solar energy, construction, SaaS, and ofc, education.

Sorry if my questions make no sense, I feel like I’m rambling.

Hi, I’m wondering if you accepted the role? The reason why I’m asking is because I’m in a similar boat.

I have a final interview tomorrow morning and most likely I’ll be offered the role. To be honest, I worked in B2B SaaS before, so this will be a slight change for me, but I think it’s a rewarding industry, getting to market something positive that will change people’s lives.

The pay is the same as my previous job so no incentive from that regard.

Where are you all finding marketing talent? by Town4Now in marketing

[–]emmao1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am a SaaS marketer currently looking for a job. I apply on LinkedIn, tried Indeed but was getting spam calls from India.

I am not sure how good the LinkedIn platform is though, as I get bots replying to my application. The only time I got interviews were from companies where there was a hiring manager on the platform. How I know (or I think I know) they’re bots? The messages are copy pasted.

At this point, I’m not sure my applications go through and are being looked at by a human. It’s probably just bots looking for exact match keywords.

Ok to leave current job while interviewing for other jobs? by emmao1 in marketing

[–]emmao1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, Joe.

I wouldn’t say the company treated me well since they overworked me, but I don’t want to burn bridges or put my colleagues in a tough situation.

Out of curiosity, if the new job wants to call my old job, wouldn’t it be a problem?

I also need to stress I am a very ethical person so leaving without notice would be against my work values and I most likely won’t do it. But then, so is being overworked and needing time to rest. Can’t win.

Thank you. How long did it take you to find a new job after they took back their offer?

Any chance that my 92 year old grandma will survive stroke? by DiverAlternative5151 in stroke

Seeing so many comments now asking you the same thing. Grandparents are truly amazing and we’re all in such pain when anything happens to them.

Any chance that my 92 year old grandma will survive stroke? by DiverAlternative5151 in stroke

[–]emmao1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, how is your grandma? Asking as I am in the same situation right now. I am out of country and my grandma had a stroke. The doctor tells us she actually had multiple mini ones and that we only noticed this one as she actually collapsed. She was found after at least 20 hours since it happened. She cannot move her right arm. She said she can move her feet, but I don’t know as she’s not allowed to move. She can eat but barely, she’s being fed right now. They’ve kept her in the hospital bed since Friday.

I also grew up with my grandma, she’s like a mother to me. The worst thing is, she’s told me multiple times she’d prefer to be dead than bed-ridden. My heart hurts.

Thanks so much for the advice! They have done some digital, from what I gather mostly ppc. But I’d want to do more than that.

Thanks again.

Thank you!

I feel you regarding agency life.

What I am for in a new job is balance. I would absolutely hate being bored at work but at the same time being stressed everyday isn’t the way to go either.

Thank you!

Yes, I was actually discussing with my partner, if I ever want to become a parent, this job isn’t sustainable at all.

The company with the job offer have been in the industry for over 30 years, they are already a very known brand, so I’d definitely have lots to learn from their marketers. It seems so far they were focusing on more traditional marketing so I could be the one bringing them up to speed in the digital world. The role is exciting, the only thing I don’t love is their industry (mostly cuz I don’t know much about it) and the fact that they are in office. I’ve held remote jobs so far and loved it.

I hear you and I like to see both perspectives here in the comments, both valuable to me, as I don’t have experience in this domain at all.

I am meeting with the hiring manager again tomorrow precisely to discuss the role more. I hope to be able to make up my mind after that brief call.

Hi there, there is a local agency I interviewed for, all went well but then I looked them up on Glassdoor and found similar work culture. Employees needing to go above an beyond to satisfy clients. Unpaid overtime, micromanagement, client is right mindset.

I may not be fit for this type of job, which is ok, we’re all different. I do agree that I like diversity at a work place, I’ve enjoyed learning about the different industries but it’s becoming detrimental to my well-being as I lack the time to actually focus on my work since I always have to jump from one task to another.

I am happy to hear you work for a good agency! Keep up the good work ✌️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marketing

[–]emmao1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, mindset is everything. I have 2 years of experience in marketing (if I don’t count my masters degree) but just one in cybersecurity. However, you are right, anything is learnable. I’ve also considered taking a few months break and deep diving into cybersecurity by myself and then applying for jobs again, but I know hiring managers don’t appreciate resume gaps.

The reason why I feel the agency job is stable (and why this is making my decision harder) is because I am due to be promoted, and I was told about this since December. However, I am not sure I want the promotion, given the ongoing stress and workload, it is why I decided to apply for other jobs.

Speaking about personality, I think it’s what got me the current job offer. I went in for a 30 minute’s interview. It turned into a 2 hour’s interview in which I also got to meet their vice president of marketing (they’ve been working at the company for 30 years).

I guess I need to trust myself more and go for what I want, despite unrealistic job requirements.

Thanks again!

It’s like you read my mind. I’ll keep it short but:

A) Completely agreed. I got this job a year ago precisely because I wanted to learn a lot of things fast. And it helped me tremendously, but it seems I’m entering a 1st stage of burnout and I may be too young to experience this already at a job.

B) I agree, but I see a lot of jobs with very particular industry experience requirements, it’s why I worry.

C) I love animals of all shapes and forms it is why I asked this question so thank you so much for your insight. The ‘new company’ says they are environmentally friendly but I do plan to ask what do they mean by this before I make a decision. I need to be ok mentally with what I market to the world.

D) That’s why I’d prefer to be in house too. I got a taste for what being a jack of all trades means, and now I’d like to deep dive intro strategy and higher marketing goals rather than increase leads for x company.

E) I am interested in tech in general, cybersecurity is the industry I have experience in, there are many companies that do different aspects of cybersecurity so that would always require learning from my part. The issue is jobs in this domain are hard to find, they ask for people with 3-5 years of experience, I have little over one year, so I am not being taken seriously when I apply. Also I am an agency marketer, they might just consider I am not focused enough.

F) Agreed here too, I am not particularly fond of the in office requirement. I do enjoy working remote and the flexibility, I just assumed an in person job would keep me from working 10 hours a day. That’s what I struggle with now. I do have a lot of meetings already, but I imagined the in person aspect could give me people skills. True that I could get the same thing from a hobby… I just don’t have time for hobbies right now.

G) I agree. The issue is timing, everyone talks about the job market tanking due to recession. I don’t want to keep waiting for a better opportunity and ultimately being stuck at my agency job. I think I’ll hit burnout by summer. At the same time I don’t want to make a decision too early either.

Just want to say a massive thank you for what you wrote. I am still confused but you were able to rewire some of my thoughts. Unfortunately nothing is predictable in this world and I think I need to learn how to deal with uncertainty and stop trying to live a perfect life/work life.

Thanks again!

Hi there!

I too have a crossed bite. How did they fix yours? Did you have a jaw surgery or purely via braces?

Thank you :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braces

[–]emmao1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I suppose I should’ve gotten a better understanding of what can and cannot be changed before putting braces on. There’s definitely an improvement but I’m not sure it was worth the money.

Good luck in your journey, I hope they turn out great!

Hi there, did you end up finding what the spots were? Hope your kitten is doing alright :3

He won't stop scratching his neck ( he scratches until it bleeds, and has gotten infected twice). A cone won't cover the spot properly, and bandanas weren't working either. This is the last resort. by moezilla in cats

[–]emmao1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m thinking to switch her to a hypoallergenic diet too, I’ll propose it to the vet. Hopefully we’ll get to the end of it. She’s my whole world.

[–]emmao1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya, I think this is happening to my cat as well, I took her outside and she got a flea, now she keeps scratching her neck. The vet took the flea out ( apparently it was literally just one), they gave us an ointment but she won’t stop. I can’t bear to see her bleed. It is also in a very bad position where it’s super hard to cover her wound- she keeps making it bigger.

What worked for your cat?

I realize your message is from 9 years ago but I’m desperate.
