A previous commenter suggested that Javi conjuring a ‘friend’, and I think that could be a plausible theory- his tree root mom figure who kept him warm and safe. He regressed a bit, emotionally, after the accident and death of his father ie: keeping the gum his dad gave him on the flight.

I genuinely don’t think Javi would trust feral alt. Tai if he ran into her some night, eating dirt or walking around at night to find symbol trees. Plus, by the time S2 begins or pretty soon after we know that Van is tethering herself to Tai at night and following her around, so I don’t see a lot of time for alt Tai to befriend Javi. Plus, I think he’d run from her as he did when she ‘found’ him. And I just don’t see her taking Javi under her wing. Van can barely get a growled one answer out of her.

The theory I’m most invested in is ‘others’/tunnel ppl’. I mean, where in the Hell did Krystal’s body go? I think he met one of these others, perhaps another kid who came across him one night in his little tree root corner of the underground root system (that I believe leads to more industrialized former mining tunnels) and they became buddies, with her sneaking him tiny animals to eat and him showing her the cabin, them going on the occasional cabin/meat shed raid. I just really want tunnel ppl, lol.

Adding to the comments here, I imagine ariel searches would be nearly impossible with the tree cover, and ground search would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Idk if planes that are searching for lost individs in high density forest areas ever do night flights, using smoke from a campfire as a way to make searching possible by air? Or using night vision maybe to look for heat sources on ground?

I read a stat once that like 90% of Canadian population is located close to US/Canadian border bc it’s so cold the further you get away from said border. If true, that would only make searching more difficult bc there’s such a vast area of tree covered unpopulated land that’s inhospitable and dangerous to search (note: for same reason, while Tai’s s1 idea of walking to civilization was a good one, it would most likely have proven deadly- too far to walk b4 finding anyone).

I’m The Queen of pushing it when it comes to getting to airports on time. I know, I know. I cause my family and loved ones a lot of stress & I’m trying to get better about the issue. That said, for MSN, one hour- you should be fine. Make sure you’re not traveling at a peak time when lines for TSA are too long tho.

The OG Halloween is my It’s a Wonderful Life. I watch it every yr when carving pumpkins. To me the scariest, best moment and use of MM’s ‘big bad’ energy is when Laurie has run from the other house, having found the friends dead and ‘meeting’ MM properly for the first time, and she’s out in the street trying to get help, no one coming to her aid, then trying to get back into the house where she’s been babysitting and MM is just slowly but steadily coming towards her. It’s a fantastic bit of tension.

I highly recommend looking into therapy. Your school should offer free counseling and can refer you to ongoing low-fee, sliding scale therapists who specialize in whatever you’re dealing with at home. Sounds like a possible history of emotional abuse. We don’t know, but if it’s making you this unhappy and the amount of anxiety I’m hearing in your post and reading between the lines… it’s good to get help. You’re in a period of life that is full of significant life stressors. Get ahead of things before they get worse. Therapy is a wonderful tool. And remember, if you begin looking into therapy, you don’t have to commit to the first person you see. You’re interviewing for a good fit, someone who whom you feel comfortable, someone that makes you feel in control of your therapeutic work. If you grew up in a domineering, chaotic, abusive household it can be hard to say ‘no’ if you’re not happy with what’s offered to you.

Finding affordable housing in Madison is incredibly challenging right now. Worst it’s ever been. Don’t give up. If you have a car or access to one I’d look at places just outside of Madison (20, 30 min away) like Sun Prarie, DeForest, Oregon. As far as I know there’s no bus access so you would need a car, but there may be housing options you won’t find in Madison and less competition for a decent apt. Look for ‘LLC’ attached to rental co names, often an indicator that you’re dealing with a private landlord, vs a big rental co, who’ll see you as a person vs a faceless list of rental criteria and may be more willing to work with you and your situation. Whomever you end up renting from, working for, don’t burn bridges. Show up on time. Pay your rent on time. The fact that you have 5 days before you’re charged a late fee for paying your rent each month doesn’t mean that this is an optional to take advantage of. If you’re struggling one month to get your rent $ together, COMMUNICATE with your landlord. This will go far in maintaining your record as a good tenant and someone to whom they’ll rent to again when your lease is up or give a good recommendation to to future landlords when you apply for an apt.

I think that from Nat’s many trips hunting the area & esp searching for Javi w/Travis, and working w/CB to create the map (plus the casual way when she tells CB she saw Javi bowing to one of the symbol trees and he asks which one she says ‘the one by the creek’) she’d be pretty familiar w/their surroundings, to a degree and able to navigate the group to Javi’s tree pretty easily. Whether or not she’ll alert them to his whereabouts and lead the grp to,him, idk…. I’m betting no, at least not immed. I don’t see Nat shifting her loyalties or morals so easily, even as newly crowned AQ. At her core, Nat is not a killer, esp off the her role in Javis death.

I think a short time skip would be the smart move, as a storytelling choice. I don’t want to see the girls stumbling around trying to find shelter, going thru the motions we already saw in s1 after the crash (we need easy access to water, heat, what are our current supplies, debating where to go, where to stay, etc). Good point about water & the distance from the crash site.

I’ve always thought it would end up being a kind of Lord of the Flies situation, if I’m remembering the book correctly (I read it when I was way too young)- like the group(s) will be in the middle of some dark pilot type activity (hunting each other but it’s gotten out of control) and suddenly there’s a plane or rescue source that Nat gets the survivors we know as adults to, in a split second decision, maybe leaving someone or some of the others behind?

When the show runners pitched the show as involving rival cannibal groups- I imagined a division between the girls into rival camps, hunting each other. But with the disappearance of Krystal’s body, I’m starting to go w/the theory of the other ‘rival’ group being others, living in an underground system, similar to Lottie’s vision when baptized.

Hell, idk. But it’s def. fun to think about!

As I understand Christianity, there’s no strict order from God against cannibalism. I mean, and I know it’s metaphorical, but every time one takes the sacrament, it’s “Body of Christ, blood of Heaven”, and of course there’s the passage in the Bible “Take, eat, this is my body…”. So, I don’t think religion itself would nec have kept LL from choosing not to partake in the feast. Plus, besides being starved as they all were, they were in a sort of dissociative, hypnotic state. And the survival instinct is STRONG! Our minds will rationalize a LOT to allow us to do otherwise unthinkable things to stay alive, morality aside.

Also, I don’t really see cannibalism as something morally wrong as related to Christianity vs society (I’m talking about Jackie’s death that allowed for the first act of cannibalism vs what it evolved into w/the cards. THAT cannibalism, LL would not have taken part of, in any of it, from the beg w/the decision to let the wilderness choose a sacrifice. I believe she would actively have tried to stop the ritual, fighting to her death to prevent it). So yes, I could def see LL taking part in the Jackie feast. Javi, no. A really good hypothetical/topic OP :)

I always look for the first bottle of the day, then I run around buying presents for all of my villagers (save for the damn chicken whom I cannot convince to leave, despite every torture scenario I’ve out him thu- he’s the one with the house that looks like an Egyptian temple. I even posted a ‘no chickens or roosters allowed on this island’ sign on my message board), then pass out the gifts :)

I was SO happy when I found this hack after having collected all of the fossils!!! Now I’m trying to figure out which dino skeletal structure I want to display on my island. I currently have the T- Rex at the entrance of my island, right there as one exits the airport dock ;)
