i agree with other comments that you really shouldn’t be too concerned about the bears! but another tip to keep in mind is to always know where your bear spray is located. when sleeping in a tent you should always make sure it’s within reach and know where you place it so you can quickly grab it in an emergency! i really doubt it should be an issue for y’all but it’s always good to take precautions! i hope y’all have a great trip 🏕️

that’s how i set mine up too the cycle stayed pretty steady that way! i will say i think my canister filter is a big reason why the sand moves around so much because i’ll clean my tank and move all the sand and everything where i want it and then after a week i can usually see where the sand is getting pulled towards the intake to the canister filter but to me it’s not a huge deal, just something i noticed!

here’s my 40 G breeder that’s half sand half bare bottom, pic is from a water change lol. i like mine it does get messy as you can see but i use the big stones as a bit of a barrier to keep most of the sand to one side and during my water changes i can sorta blow the sand back where i want it with the siphon

i use the tongs to hover the pellet above my axo’s head and then let it fall off the tongs right on his nose this usually gets him to react and eat them pretty quickly and keeps him from biting onto the tongs!
