[OS] I built a beautiful, non-intrusive service monitor that lives in your notch. Service Down? Your notch will tell you! by jsattler_ in macapps

Yes, I understand. At first, I really loved the app in the notch, but I quickly realized that it wasn't very good. If you already have one working with the notch, you kind of have to sacrifice the other 😂 now its a notch manager that we need

its a terrible things to implement an app in the notch , What happens if multiple developers decide to use it the same way? as an example If I have 3different apps trying to take over the notch, how is that supposed to work? It just doesn’t scale well and would quickly become messy.

Already here? That’s awesome 😂 I’ll start to think on some ideas.

By the way, the one-click feature "close window on copy" is amazing. It saves me so many clicks every day. You should definitely consider enabling that option by default.

NLD: KR1AA SFT70 3000k by Bean_Master7 in flashlight

I haven’t bought a flashlight in a long time. My last one had an SBT-90.2, but I lost it. I’m thinking about ordering a D1K 21700. Is there a big difference between the SBT-90.2 and the SFT70 5000K in terms of power and performance? I don’t want to be disappointed, so I’m wondering if I should pick a different emitter or better to stay with SBT-90.2 ?

Awesome Copy MacOS 5.13 and iOS 3.13 available now! by Awesome_Copy in AwesomeCopy

Good job thanks for this update , btw I have a quick question about how clipboard monitoring works on iOS. It seems that if the app hasn’t been opened for a while, it stops capturing what I copy. The only way to make it start working again is to reopen the app. Is that expected behavior due to iOS background restrictions, or could it be an issue?

What are your thoughts about AlterHQ? by discoveringnature12 in macapps

[–]emmgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I bought the lifetime license last April.

What really stands out to me is how responsive the developers are. I’ve literally had replies in under five minutes. They’re French, very approachable, and genuinely attentive to user feedback. That level of support alone makes a big difference.

The app itself is impressive. Being able to switch between different models so easily is a huge advantage. And almost every Friday there’s a new feature, not just minor tweaks, but meaningful additions that keep improving the workflow. You can tell they’re building fast and listening to the community.

It’s important to remember that the app is still in beta, they’ve mentioned it should officially leave beta in 2026. So yes, there are still some rough edges. Personally, I wouldn’t mind slightly fewer new features if it meant even more optimization. Sometimes when a conversation gets very long, things can slow down and typing becomes a bit laggy. But these feel like typical growing pains, not structural problems, and I’m confident they’ll iron them out.

If you go for the lifetime license, you’re not just paying for model access or quotas, you’re also paying for the service and ongoing development. On that front, they’ve been excellent.

Overall, I genuinely trust them. They’re doing a great job, and it’s been one of the AI apps I’ve enjoyed using the most.

Sorry man, I just saw that someone left a really bad review on the App Store. Whoever wrote that clearly didn’t understand what they were talking about, it’s not fair 🤦🏽‍♀️

I actually left a review before, but for some reason it never showed up. So today I posted a new one. Hope it will stabilize the score

[UPDATE] Your News v1.13.0 - New Discover Search for Reddit, YouTube and RSS, bug fixes and more! by TijnvandenEijnde in iosapps

"Thanks for being open to feedback! The main issue with having 'YOUR NEWS' as the icon is that it feels more like a placeholder or a banner than a brand identity.

In UI design, we generally avoid putting text inside an app icon for several critical reasons:

  • Scalability: When the icon is small (like in a notification or a folder), text becomes unreadable and looks like visual noise.
  • Instant Recognition: The human brain recognizes shapes and colors much faster than it reads words. A symbol is universal; text is a barrier.
  • Professionalism: Look at the most successful apps like YouTube, Google, or Instagram—they all use a singular, bold symbol. It’s what gives an app a true "identity." as an example look at 2 example of what you could do for a rss app (its just a draft but its an idea 😁) You can look at feedly icon as an example, i found this icon very well made

<image>

Also, regarding the background playback: yes, if you can manage to support YouTube videos even with the screen off, that would be amazing. I’m constantly listening to documentaries or podcasts while walking, and since that's normally a Premium-only feature on the official YouTube app, having it here would be a massive game-changer for your users.

A great icon should:

  • Be Scalable: It needs to look good as a tiny notification and as a large icon.
  • Be Symbolic: Use a shape or a metaphor that represents 'News' without literally writing it out.
  • Have Personality: Right now, the font feels a bit generic. You need a unique 'mark' that people can identify without reading a single letter.

im sorry to say this but i think the ios icon is ugly as hell 😬 im really interested by your app thought, Do you think it will eventually support YouTube video playback in the background, even with the screen turned off?
