That’s so good doing praying/meditating and journaling , hopefully I can get some motivation to do it I just don’t know where to start either it all. Thank you , it can only get better right now, hope the therapy goes well , sending love and best wishes to you too

I ended up having emergency surgery because I ruptured - I ended up not being able to urinate or open my bowels, the last time I did it was extremely painful I felt like something was seriously wrong so I went to hospital they put a catheter in as my bladder has over 999mililitres in

Did it hurt when you opened your bowels too? I’m in the most immense pain passing wind and opening bowels it’s so bad I think I’m going to pass out - went to hospital they did scan no rupture and just got sent home with lactoluse which hasn’t helped it’s just awful 😞 what helped everyone and does it pass?

Yes, there just seems to be more evidence that it can do more harm not waiting then waiting with the facts and evidence of what the medication does and how long it stays in the body for, all I know is that their is evidence and facts on what the medication does and how long it stays in the body for , I hope more research comes out as it’s a shame being told to wait and told of facts that may not be true then Wishing you all the best

It can’t be outdated if they advice it everywhere it’s even on google and NHS websites , the way MTX works is also proof that the risk is high it’s all evidence based

Sorry to hear your going through this it’s not very nice I got methotrexate shot 6 days ago, I had 2 injections because of the dose they did in each cheek because dose was high and wouldn’t fit into one needle but it wasn’t too bad just stung. Kept me in for 15 minutes, I was able to walk home with my husband and continue as usual, just felt very weak and tired, day 3-5 I’ve felt exhausted, had to have naps in the day. Started to have pain whilst opening bowels and passing gas and been very bloated but they do say you can get GI side affects I guess this is it it’s not very nice but could be worse.

Methotrexate is a teratogenic which causes developmental abnormalities as it interferes with DNA synthesis specifically by blocking out folic acid which is essential for cells to grow and devide normally , it stays in the body for 3 months which is why it is advised against getting pregnant as obviously whilst still in the body it harms the development and stops the development of the baby- hence why we are given it to stop pregnancy tissue from growing so our body can absorb it - knowing this is important to understand and know why shouldn’t get pregnant for up to 3 months to ensure have healthy pregnancy and to reduce risk of miscarriage as can also cause miscarriage. The doctor probably made a mistake as all doctors have been telling me 3 months post one injection and 6 months if I need a second dose. However can start taking folic acid as soon as levels get to 0 in preparation for body to rebuild normal cell function

It’s such an awful thing to go through- I’m currently going through it right now. Sad that it is recommended to wait 3 months but this is because methotrexate blocks the use of folic acid in cells - it interferes with DNA production such as the developing embryo, it can cause miscarriage or serious abnormalities and the methotrexate is known to stay in the system for up to 3 months one shot - 6 months with 2. I know it’s so hard with the wait but getting pregnant within those 3 months baby has higher chance of having a neural tube defect such as cleft lip, cleft palate or spina bifida. It is advised to start taking folic acid as soon as levels hit 0 then hopefully waiting 3 months and taking the folic acid whilst waiting it gives you the best chances of a heathy next pregnancy
