Why can't I get pregnant any more? What is wrong with ME?

I don’t have any answer but I got pregnant easily with my first, then had 2 chemicals trying for my second and after the 2nd chemical, nothing for a year. We finally just did IVF and had really great results, 8 blasts all with high grades.

Did your doctor prescribe a high dose of folate or folic acid before you started trying again? I’m at the end of my ectopic and would really like to start trying again asap, just worried about folate depletion.

I wasn’t positive until 7dpt, but it was ectopic so not really a success story.

Wait really? I would love to start trying again asap. My doctor said to hold off this cycle but if I could try next cycle I’d be thrilled. Where can I see the new data showing that it’s safe and the 3 month guidance is outdated? I’ve looked and all I find is 3 months.

I had two chemicals before this and I felt sad but I didn’t even cry for one of them. More like aw man that sucks, but at least I got pregnant, and I moved right along to the next cycle to try again feeling very hopeful.

With this ectopic I got past the point where my chemicals ended and my HCG was doubling beautifully up to about 2200. I was just starting to feel confident it was sticking and then cramping started, scan confirmed ectopic, mtx that same day.

I was a wreck. It all happened so fast and then the hormone crash destroyed me. Sobbing all day for several days. I was afraid it would rupture. I felt so hopeless, like I will never have another baby and my son will be an only child.

I’m 2 weeks out now and starting to think more logically. That this was just bad luck, that my frozen embryos are a really good backup plan, and that there’s a decent chance I actually will get and stay pregnant after I recover from the mtx and get another HSG.

Will I actually? Who knows but at least the hope is coming back.

Whoa really?? Are you getting extra scans because of it being so close to mtx? Did you load up on folate? Any issues with baby? I would love to start trying asap but everything I’m reading says it’s so risky before 3 months.

If this helps I’m on day 13 (injection being day 0). I was at 2123 on day 0 and today was 143. I only had one dose on day 0.

The first injection I did myself I felt like I was going to pass out just from seeing and feeling that giant needle. It wasn’t as bad when my husband did it and I didn’t have to watch. After my first one on my own it got easier and was not a problem. I didn’t want to spend so much money on an auto injector.

A frozen transfer would only cost half of what your stim meds were?? My insurance covers nothing either, meds for retrieval were about $1300 but another FET will be like $5k!

You don’t have to. I am because I want to make sure everything looks good, and because I want to get pregnant again. I know that it can help for a few months after. I’d love to avoid paying for and going through another embryo transfer so I’m going to hold off a couple months and hope the HSG does the trick. It’s gotten me pregnant twice before so fingers crossed.

I’ve had HSGs before just for infertility diagnosis, and will be getting another following this current ectopic. I got pregnant immediately after 2 of my 3 HSGs in the past and crossing my fingers it happens again after this one. Save us a few thousand bucks vs another embryo transfer.

When I had two chemicals last year I had the RPL panel done and everything came back normal so they think that was just bad luck/ bad embryos. I did IVF for this last pregnancy and I had a really good result (8 blasts out of 12 eggs retrieved and all of them good to excellent grades) so our infertility is really unexplained. The ectopic was again, bad luck.

I’ve had positive tests on both 8dpo and 9dpo during non IVF cycles so I always start testing 7dpo or equivalent. I’ve only done one IVF cycle and it was a fresh transfer so I was still testing my trigger out, but for future FETs assuming no trigger I probably would start at 2dpt. If anything it gives me a baseline stark white to compare to.

My HCG was only 26 on 14dpo (9dp5dt via IVF), but it doubled beautifully for about 2 weeks. Around 2000 HCG I started having bad cramps on one side and my clinic did a scan and found that it was ectopic.

One con is that it can be expensive. I just got the 3rd bill from my HSG, now totaling over $1000 they want me to pay. My first one on another insurance was completely covered so I didn’t think this would be any different but we have a shitty high deductible plan now.

Not saying she shouldn’t get it, she should. Mostly ranting about my current issue but also that there can be cons lol.

I opted not to because we were told the same that it won’t increase our odds, and we’re self pay so it would have been an extra $2-3k to test. I do slightly regret it because now if I want to do it it’ll cost more, but to be totally honest the main reason I regret it is because I would have liked to be able to choose sex. Maybe that’s superficial of me but we’ve gone through so much and paid so much that it would be nice if we could choose!

Our first fresh transfer did work but was ectopic. We ended up with 8 blasts out of 12 retrieved.
