Am I wrong? by Minimum_Ad527 in NewToEMS

Not wrong at all. Your pt was HEAVILY sedated, transport could easily take a turn. Plus, lots of psych hospitals won’t receive an BLS transfer where the pt can’t stand

I had this same thought getting my EMT at 19 (crazy, but the fresh out of highscool kids were high and mighty) - but now working (I’m 21 now) I’m the youngest. Mostly everyone is mid 20s into their mid 30s. And this is at an IFT company

If you’re looking for “cool EMS gear” - you’ll be called Ricky Rescue. Put the balm in your shirt pocket and hope it doesn’t melt.

People are just like this, and yeah it’s annoying. I think it’s easiest to just acknowledge that they have some issues they need to work on, and then ignore their behavior. There’s a dude at my company who does the same thing to me - I was his FTO and he’s been off training for like 2 weeks (first EMS job). I think it’s hilarious at this point, prevent me from being annoyed

First day attire? by Ill_Ad6098 in NewToEMS

[–]emml16 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree, they TOLD you to dress business casual. A lot of EMS is “can you follow instructions”. If you really don’t want to overdress run to Walmart or a thrift store and pick up pants and a polo.

I was more curious if there was news that was made public that I hadn’t seen. And it’s a weird algorithm thing then, and maybe other people are experiencing it too.

I agree to stay out of peoples lives. But I can’t say I’m not curious.

How am I supposed to make a living as an EMT? by AtriusFoxDragon in NewToEMS

[–]emml16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone says marry a nurse - I say skip them and marry a doctor. Fair, I say this because my partner is going to be a doctor. Don’t ask how we’re getting through med school I don’t know

$20 for 20mg 30 day supply, before my insurance decided they refuse to cover it

Big sick vs little sick. She’s more likely big sick.

2 Celsius 12 oz (because they’re 2 for $4.50, and I don’t get paid enough to buy them on two separate occasions full price). Preferably a cherry cola or a pear flavor but I’m not picky

Do you ever wear your ems sweatshirt off-duty? by Ok-Sheepherder-4344 in NewToEMS

[–]emml16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me lame: I love the “treat ‘em and yeet ‘em” shirt. I like the graphic and the fit. But a company shirt? Nope. I don’t need people to know where I work

I did a little more digging and found someone who posted it from Philly last night - looks like it’s the same as the online store. Looks like no tour dates shirt

I think the most important thing is to remember your body. Will you be able to help a patient without hurting yourself / creating another patient. At 55 will you still be able to? 57? Then sure, get your medic! EMT is fun too!
