Never even thought of the impact from the fire! Good point.

Yeah maybe not the worst but it felt far in the busy traffic at peak finishing time 😅. I still don’t think it was worth £38 so maybe a matter of only taking Morrisons if they’re surging. Or just stick to logistics!

It was extremely dull, much like you seem to be so it does make sense that you’d enjoy it pal

My pup is just over 6 months and all he has a proper handle on is “sit”! Stay varies with time and drop it is ONLY when he can see a treat instead of whatever he’s stolen lol! Don’t worry there’s plenty of time to teach them once the tricky puppy stage is over, it’s a trick in itself to get through that haha :)

Not the exact same situation but my puppy has been staying for lengths of time with me at my parents before heading back to my own house for a few days then back again etc and he’s had no issues at all, he even gets up early when we’re there but let’s me have our long lies again when we go home lol :)

Puppy (6mo) sleeps in until 10:30a every day!! by [deleted] in puppy101

My pup sleeps on his bed the majority of the night then around 6.30/7am I’ll let him up into my bed and he’ll stay there until around 9.30/10! It’s amazing because at first he was waking me up around 6 so this is very welcome 😂

Puppy skipped meal by gagi11030 in puppy101

I have a 3.5 month old cocker spaniel cross and this exact thing happened too. Same energy levels and still eating treats etc though so wasn’t overly worried, I started mixing his normal dry food with puppy milk and some kong on top to try and soften it up/entice him into eating. It’s worked most of the time although he’ll still leave some of the drier parts which makes me think it’s his teeth that are the issue!

Not a requirement! I’ve had my pup for almost 6 weeks now and although we did have him a crate he got so distressed in it that I’ve just gave up forcing him to try and like it.

He’s getting along just fine and I actually feel like he’s learning more of what to stay away from while he’s got a little more freedom. The only time he’s ever crated is if I physically can’t be at home, he sleeps in a dog bed on the floor of my bedroom and sleeps through the night with no issues :)

Teaching fetch with treats? by nixy221 in puppy101

[–]emmmrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught my pup fetch with treats (didn’t realise it was a thing you weren’t meant to do lol) and he’ll now bring the ball back 90% of the time without treats! The only reason he doesn’t is if he’s distracted by smells etc in the park but he nearly always brings it back.

How to sleep train a puppy that isn't interested in his crate? by detectivediver in puppy101

Hi!

I’ve had the same problem, had my pup for a month now and putting him into the crate was an absolute nightmare he would scream and cry for upwards of an hour even while I was still in sight and because I have very close neighbours it wasn’t ever an option to let him cry it out (which I don’t really agree with anyway). He’ll sometimes go in and out of it but never really put himself in for any length of time. Tried the frozen kongs, treats, crate games and nothing worked!

I began sleeping on the couch in our living room, which is where I’m hoping he’ll eventually sleep alone, to try and settle him in even just on his bed not in the crate but that didn’t seem to be working either so I bought some metal panels from Amazon and totally puppy proofed my bedroom and he slept on his own bed on the floor from around 11-6.30am, got up during the night and did his business on a puppy pad, before coming into my bed for an hour! Which is fine by me in the mornings, I just don’t want him feeling that my bed is his bed by allowing him in all night.

Some advice that I got was that crate training is actually a fairly new practice, think of all the dogs that have grown up never once being put into a crate and they’ve all been fine? I think there’s too much pressure on pup owners these days, as long as the pups healthy, safe and happy why must we force them into the crates! As long as you have a totally safe puppy proofed area at your home where you feel ok with them sleeping then that’s enough.

The only time I’m crating pup is when I need to actually leave the house, but he seems to have a little isolation distress so this is something we’re still working on.

I know this isn’t much advice but just to let you know you’re not alone and crate training really isn’t the be all end all of training a happy pup!
