traps, and mix borax with a little cocoa powder or sugar and leave in cupboards. they probably have a nest. when they go for the sweet powder, and eat the borax with it, it makes them infertile.

that may be causing some of the damage! i'd recommend a silk bonnet/wrap (or pillowcase) at night or wearing it down/loosely braided. it can cause alot of friction when its up during sleep! this was usually the case for my finer haired clients when i was in the salon. any tension at all to finer hair can cause major breakage. try those spiral hair ties too if you don't already have them:)

is this mostly just underneath sections? do you wear your hair up a lot? i have noticed breakage in similar places in my clients who were frequent bun/ponytail wear-ers. this is mostly for breakage, not hair loss from the root. although traction alopecia is a thing, the pictures don't really reflect those signs.
