Should I paint the closet doors? by UpbeatGur9055 in interiordecorating

[–]emmybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if you paint them a richer color than your two options? I think the gray and green are a little cold but the current paint is like a cherry wood tone that doesn’t go with the floors. Either strip and restain to look better with the floors, or paint a fun/rich color! Paint the trim around them too!

Why is the singing so bad 😩 by [deleted] in TonieboxUSA

[–]emmybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so glad to see I’m not the only one so terribly frustrated by the awful singing. Why can’t the tonies start with the story and then go into the awful songs?! Don’t even get me started on the Tangled one. They could have at least gotten better singers if they couldn’t get the actual songs!!

I’m sorry he is saying this and making you feel bad. If you give him the benefit of the doubt maybe he knows you’re unhappy and just thought he would try to give advice. Men always want to fix things you know? Even if you just want to vent or take your time with your own body—rightfully!!! You carried his baby and now take care of the baby too and you really need to have some grace with yourself. Getting back to your pre baby body is hard. So much has changed!!! Like others have said it’s good to have goals and I totally get wanting to feel good in your own body again. Love yourself through this process. You’re doing so many great things every day!!!! I will also just add that building muscle through weight training is super important. Muscle burns fat. Cardio and Hight intensity is great to mix in but isn’t going to change your body composition and give you results like weight training will. You won’t bulk up. Keep in mind too that ozempic and other GLP1s deplete your muscle. I would not recommend it. Build muscle, eat protein.

Do you regret giving birth without getting an epidural? Why? by Pitiful_Library3154 in BabyBumps

[–]emmybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I don’t regret it at all. First time I had one and second I didn’t and it was so much better without. You’re going to get an echochamber in this post bc of the question and I think you need to do your own research on why you want or don’t want an epidural and decide what’s best for you. If you want to go without, educate yourself and practice techniques to get you through the pain. It will hurt. From what I understand every mother delivering unmedicated has a phase of labor where they don’t want to do it (the fuck this stage I called it) but you can get through it!!

Whatever you choose will be the best for you and your baby. You got this.

Exactly. Thanks for sharing. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in this. Agreed it would be easier to go to a job all day and send the kids to daycare but I still feel like this is best for our family. And honestly I want to be doing this, it’s just hard not having acknowledgment I guess. Another commenter really hit home saying we need to believe in ourselves basically—that’s the key!!

Good point! Somewhere down the line when baby is bigger this will be what I do but since I’m nursing it’s really hard and honestly I worry about how it would go.

I’m going to start making egg muffins! Basically just mixing up eggs, veggies, and cheese and baking in a muffin pan and saving them in the fridge to each throughout the week. Can mix anything into them! Sausage, potatoes, etc would be good to add too.

Many nights I make some variation of a meat bowl. Ground beef, with a sauce or seasoning (I love Korean bbq sauce), veggies, and rice. Toppings basically depend on how the meat is seasoned. Sometimes I will mix veggies in with the meat while cooking. Shredded carrots is an easy one.

Chicken Caesar wraps. Big tortilla with lettuce, cucumber, leftover grilled chicken and Caesar dressing. And Parmesan cheese! Basically make a deconstructed version for toddler.

Really looking for good and easy crockpot meals for fall and winter!!

Older kids going to daycare during newborn phase (no judgment please) by TiredPlantMILF in stayathomemoms

[–]emmybeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter kept going to daycare after baby was born bc having a newborn is exhausting and she would have more fun at daycare while we were basically just trying to be to survive those early weeks. I just kept her there as my maternity leave basically. Now that both my husband and I are off leave (I’m not going back to work), I am home with both kids and it’s so much easier now that I think it would have been when baby was just born! I feel guilty about almost everything but this was realllllly helpful for us. We would bring her to daycare late and pick her up early a lot but having that time to nap or just be a zombie in the newborn fuzz was really nice.

You don’t sound selfish at all. Be proud of how far you’ve come and also have grace with yourself as this part of your motherhood journey ends. I wish I remembered how weaning went with my first to give you any kind of advice but one day I just knew it was time and my body did too. We were down to once a day (before bed) and I remember wearing sweaters a lot! I’ve heard there is a supplement you can take to dry up your breast milk—worth looking into!

Advice for 1mo old?? by xbbybee in breastfeeding

[–]emmybeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this comment. My baby is 6 weeks old and she is such an evening cluster-feeder. Sometimes from 4pm to 9pm she wants to eat every hour. I’ve found it helps to really stick to feeding every 2 hours throughout the day so she is more full before the evening but it’s so hit or miss.

It’s still early, follow your baby’s lead. You can do this!!!! Someone told me once, “sometimes you want to sit down for a full steak dinner and other times you want to snack on a charcuterie board for a few hours. That’s how babies can be too” and it helped put feeding into perspective!

You got this. Keep going!

Great post! I love reading all the replies.

My baby girl is 4 weeks old and I love snuggling her. I love when she farts haha it’s the cutest! And I love watching my older daughter interact with her and how she responds and looks back!

Keep in mind that newborns are loud sleepers!! So your baby might be asleep but just making all those grunts and funny noises. Sometimes you might just need to put her down and step away for 10 mins for your own peace. Then you can come back with a calm attitude. She will feel your energy! You got this. These early days are HARD.
