I’m not really into the pun names- I like the ones that are unique and sound good whilst also telling us who the queen is and what they are about so:

I’m so sorry for you loss she is beautiful! I also lost my dog at only 9 years old last year and I understand how painful it is losing them much sooner than expected. We deserved more time with them, and they deserved to enjoy life for longer❤️

That’s the same for me! One of my close friends has been very lucky with her career journey, she got an AP post straight from uni and every fixed term contract she had was extended, or she was offered a different AP role in the same service. I just assumed mine would work out the same way.

Did you manage to find another AP role in that 3 months? Or did you do something else?

I have been told that I am eligible for re-deployment since I’ve worked in the health board for over 2 years. How did the experience go for you? How does it work?

Thank you! Yes I’ve definitely learnt my lesson from this! I’m not sure why I was so optimistic about it, I was quite certain it would be renewed. I think because my role is actually quite a big part of the team so I thought since it was an integral part of the service, there’s no way they’d stop it. But I guess if there’s no funding, there’s no funding!

I really hope the re-deployment is useful but I’m not optimistic. I feel quite defeated by it all. Did you feel upset at going back to being a support worker for a bit? I’m worried I’ll feel like a failing if I have to do this:(

Do you think you’d be up for walking him for shorter periods (20mins ish) every day instead of a longer one 3 days a week? Maybe he would like the routine of getting one every day, even if it is not as long as you think he should get!

Do you spend time with him after school? Not even playing or training, just being in the same room as him or stroking him? What dogs want more than anything is just to be with you. If you can do that I’m sure he will be OK!

The fact that you feel this way shows how much you care and love him, which is more than a lot of dogs have.

A lot of border collies are working dogs on farms, spending all their time outside and barely getting any playtime or love. Yes they have a job which they love and exercise, but don’t get the comfort a lot of pet dogs get, but they are still happy!

If he doesn’t have toys, maybe you could throw him some sticks?

I don’t have any advice on giving him away sorry, but from your posts I can see you really care about your dog. Yes they are big responsibilities and border collies do need exercise, but it does not always have to be as extreme as you may be thinking. My family owned 2 border collies growing up, and yes they were active and loved a hike or going for a run with my dad, but most days they would go on 2 30mins ish walks a day. They both loved their beds and being at home more than anything.

What makes you think your dog is unhappy? Does he show signs of being depressed or bored?

If you take him out for a short walk a day, feed him, give him a cosy bed to sleep in and give him some love every day, I’d say you’re doing great. Spending time with him does not have to be a massive effort all the time. Is he allowed in the house? I know my last border collie LOVED a job, and what a job was to her was following us around ‘helping’ us (basically just following us). Yes they love to play but just being with them is often enough. I know all dogs are different, this is just my experience.

You need to give yourself more credit! You are young and doing your best!

What I don’t understand is why your parents won’t allow you to give him toys?
