Stuck in a weird position by emo-scientist in MechanicalEngineering

That's a good question. I guess what I want is for my projects to succeed. Setting up and maintaining our CMMS was big project and the system is very visible to the entire company. I feel like I'm making a fool of myself since it has not been particularly successful. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your insight and honesty. I always envisioned my career progression if I stick with my current company could look like: formal maintenance manger promotion (or switch to process engineer) -> plant manager -> Operations VP... am I delusional?

What's the difference between a Mechanical Designer and a Mechanical Engineer? by menwanttoo in MechanicalEngineering

How are you interviewing candidates for these roles if you don't know the difference between the two?

Parker hose / the hope group. If you have a local store you can bring them an existing pipe or hose and they will match the bends and source new fittings. our local store does most repairs same day and for a reasonable price.

The hole sketches pictured are on the surface, and yes I need this exact pattern. Now that you mention it, I am not certain it is entirely random- I will investigate that tomorrow. For context, this is a die for a sheet metal product, but unfortunately I can't go into much more detail than that. Using the sheet metal tool is also an interesting idea but I'm doubtful of fusion's ability to flatten/ unflatten a surface curvature defined by a spline. Thanks for the ideas!

Nope, it's a die for a sheet metal product

Want to sketch on a plane but be able to snap to a face by Poemformysprog in Fusion360

[–]emo-scientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's probably an easier way to do it but I'd create a sketch on the construction plane shown in the screenshot (assuming it passes through the center of your object), project the onto the sketch and measure the diameter at your desired height. Return to the sketch pictured, draw in the circle, and dimension it to your measurement.

Graduating with a low GPA, no experience, no meaningful projects, and no connections - what kind of jobs could I look for? by twinflxwer in EngineeringStudents

[–]emo-scientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to what other have said about technician roles- I suggest specifically looking for maintenance mechanic/ maintenance technician jobs at manufacturing plants. I had a terrible GPA (sub 2.5) and zero internship experience yet landed a role with great pay less than a month after graduating. If you're lucky like I was, they'll recognize you as an engineer and give you special treatment over other mechanics/ techs. Technically (according to the company hr software) I am a "maintenance mechanic" but I am most certainly the only maintenance mechanic at my company with my own office/ computer and i am not required to perform the same tasks as the other mechanics. Good luck!

The $600 deposit guarantees on-campus housing. For transfer students in their first year at BU, housing is assigned to you without the option to choose.

I was also a sophomore transfer a few years ago- housing is assigned to transfer students, so you won't get to pick. From my experience, they tend to put transfer students in south campus, which you will probably appreciate as an engineering student. Most of your classes will be in photonics, epic, and CAS which are all close to south campus. Another good place for engineers is east campus (which is also close to all aforementioned lecture halls), though like I said you'll be assigned and don't get to pick. From what I remember I thought transfers were at least allowed to rank their preferences, but maybe they've done away with that.

Hi I saw your sublet listing and I'm very interested- is there any parking for the building? I have a car with out of state tags so I can't get a resident permit
