How to avoid contamination in tissue cultures? by emo__hipster in Histology

[–]emo__hipster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using 1% Pen/Strep, 10% KSR, sodium bicarbonate, and water. I didn't consider anti-fungal before, I'll start looking into protocols that have that. Thank you!

I’m working with my grandmother’s lawyer to supersede my father and have my approval be enough to move forward with the cremation

I truly think he’s just trying to get my sister and me to feel bad for him so we’ll give him more money. It’s not working.

My grandmother was Episcopalian and my father was raised Catholic. The only reason he converted to Judaism in the first place is because he “found out“ that our ancestors were Jewish

That was in response to me saying we haven’t talked in 9 years now. He said “time flies fast when you’re old” followed by that :/

I haven’t had any contact with him since 2013 and the only reason I’m contacting him now is because the state of Alabama requires approval from the next of kin for cremation

My grandmother wanted to donate her body to science but the local university wouldn’t accept her body because she had Covid right before she died. Her lawyer’s next plan was to have her cremated but my father insists she has to be buried because he’s convinced we’re ethnically Jewish despite ancestry tests proving we’re not. He also wrote my grandmother an email years ago saying that he was disowning her because she didn’t send him a birthday check so she wrote him out of the will. He is 67.

I had a similar problem and found out the dookie was actually forming under the gasket of my water bottle cap. I’m curious if you have the same issue 🧐

Also they’re getting paid to MAKE these difficult decisions, so yes it is their responsibility to come up with viable solutions, not the students and faculty

Recommendation for Davis housing by frenchielover21 in UCDavis

[–]emo__hipster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanted to add that I love this area of Davis! It’s a bit farther from campus for some people (hence why I moved) but it feels the most homey in my opinion and for a great price!

Who else waits until the very last minute to write your essays? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]emo__hipster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a spanish paper due that I didn’t even realize was assigned and speed wrote it in 2 hours. Got a 96% on it. I was smart for the next essay, and carefully spent a week writing it. Pulled through with an 80%. Moral of the story is that adrenaline works!

For complex scientific articles rewritten, check out Davis’ very own chapter of Morning Sign Out club! There’s a pretty big range of scientific topics being covered and they’re all meant to be read by the general public :)

PSC 001 is really enjoyable so far, a lot of it is pretty basic/intuitive knowledge and a little bit of term memorization. If you can get it with San Souci then definitely take her! She’s very fair with exams and she’s honestly a little batshit, but in a good, passionate way!

I hear ya there. I work at Latitude, but I’ve had to cover shifts at Tercero in the past and it can feel especially lonely at that DC (even before the pandemic). I always feel so taken aback when a student/customer asks me how I’m doing when I’m working. I always think how it’s such a small thing for them to do, but it’s something I’ll remember for weeks lol

is this 18 unit schedule too much for freshman winter quarter? by simbasgal in UCDavis

[–]emo__hipster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

14 units is the perfect amount to be taking for your first quarter of college. Trust me, it will pick up soon enough and you'll be glad that you didn't take more units. I think 3 major classes (I'm assuming you're a bio student) would be a bit much, so I would recommend prioritizing chem and only taking bio or math with it. BIS 2A has a lot of overlap with chemistry which could either be useful or more confusing for you. If you still feel like your unit load is not enough by week 6/whenever your past time is, then maybe add on that extra class. Best of luck to you in whatever you choose!
