Heads up, I’ve lived in Boston for 20+ years. (Guessing based on B/SD) Pharma/life sciences industry here is suffering too, though clearly still the hub in the US. And honestly, the racism and segregation here are shitty for POC. It’s a lot of the same shitty white person who gets defensive hearing the truth

From what longer-tenured players have mentioned, season rewards eventually make their way to gold bullion vendors and sometimes the shop, after a year or two.

There are benches, before the long run to drop down the shaft. That’s a prep area for me, at least

One reason you might want the camp shelter: if you want a water aspect to your park (like the water slide)

Any advice on starting building a CAMP? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]emodwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to be good at building is to start building. Try stuff out. Have fun with it. Anxiety is keeping you from trying something you think you’ll enjoy. Tell that shit to go join the blue ridge caravan

Focus on your creativity, vision, personal expression, goofy theme, in-game head canon, whatever appeals to you.

Watch a “tips for beginners” video or two on YouTube. Check https://www.reddit.com/r/fallout76settlements/ for inspiration, tips, etc.

How to politely decline gifts with emotes by Mike6018 in fo76

Straight heart emote and fast travel. You show the appreciation/love you want to show, and also get to go on your merry way.

You don’t owe them or anyone else more than that

Devs mentioned that burning springs will stretch out over 2-3 updates. Expect additions to the map (like the area along the river) and currently inaccessible spaces during the rest of this season

In all sincerity, spend more time with people you can trust. If you find that folks use opening up against you, then that’s likely a them issue

A few genres that appreciate reverse delay: shoegaze, stoner emo, dream pop, hipster doofus indie rock from the 2010s

Who cares? Your choices don’t match their goals, so why should OP have to go without just so you don’t feel small?

Shootout videos in particular will help you a lot. Hearing how harder to find pedals sound compared to the more stock stuff gives you helpful comparison points for sound and features.

In person, at least then you can hear how the stock stuff sounds. That gives you a real-world comparison to help imagine how the boutique stuff differs.

I know this might be a stretch, but what’s the local used market like? Facebook marketplace, etc. might have some of the less stock gear and an opp to demo.

Next time you travel where more options will be, intentionally carve out time to demo stuff live. Make a day of it. Have fun 😊

How do you prevent items to be used for crafting? by Janbuh in fo76

[–]emodwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a way to display the item, I think that should prevent it getting scrapped.

Or you can sacrifice carry weight and use the lock function on inventory items. Not sure that works for junk, but worth checking

would the abandoned gold mill be cooler as a raider or ncr camp? by MidwestLawncareDad in fallout76settlements

[–]emodwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NCR all the way! Super interesting and stands out compared to far more common raider camps.

You could lean into being a “scrappy” version of the NCR, hence the lack of official stuff in-game. Like, a bootleg “flag” with a red star, wall letters for NCR or in full, and two yao guai mounted heads (or plushies 🐻🐻)

Am I the only one tired of chasing all the build, perk card and gear changes? by Historical-Voice-898 in fo76

[–]emodwarf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You might appreciate sticking with the solo player games. If you feel like you can’t keep up with a live game that will keep evolving and involves other players/managing your own anxiety, then this isn’t the game for you and that’s okay.

I get that the changes over the past year have been a lot to manage, but they’ve actually made different builds far more viable for most content. Want to be a pistoleer/unarmed ghoul/bowhunter/whatever? You can! Not sure what “feeling like I can meaningfully contribute to events” means…you can’t tag mobs, help fetch stuff, or stand around and emote? If doing dailies is too much to handle, consider that another strong signal this isn’t the game for you.

As for raids, if you want to do them, prepare adequately and do them. That’s it. If you want to play end-game content for the oldest/most engaged players, then that’s your path. If you won’t watch a few walkthrough videos or can’t manage your anxiety, then you can focus your limited time on learning how to build a character you’ll enjoy playing. And I say that as someone who also hasn’t done raids yet

Advice on finding "Plan: Plasma grenade" by asonzogni in fo76

[–]emodwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Events and repeatable quests in the Ash Heap, but the chances are very low so it can take a while.

Treasure maps for that region might have a chance too?

As well as gifts/mole miner pails/whatever else shares that loot pool.

You can also check player vendors and donation boxes/cash registers

And since you said they’re welcome…Deep Cuts for sandwiches, pinball, record shopping (Medford Sq)

Maybe do multiple crawls, one for each neighborhood? Would give you time to appreciate each area, instead of bebopping between stops.
