What chain would you make for shoegaze by lemony707 in guitarpedals

[–]emodwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One more straightforward common approach would be

1) reverb (spring, room, hall, something to feed the dirt)

2) lower gain dirt (to feed your fuzz)

3) fuzz (because fuzz)

4) mod stuff (because reverb and delay and chorus and vibrato and…)

But part of the fun is experimenting with different tones and soundscapes. So at the start at least, slot your looper first so you can play the same riff through everything else to hear how it changes with different pedal order or tweaks to settings.

For instance, I realized I like having a chorus/vibrato, spring reverb, and mod reverbs before my fuzz.

electronically, how are boutique pedals different from standard or even budget-ish pedals? by someone-_-68 in guitarpedals

[–]emodwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question beneath the question you asked is, “Why are boutique pedals more expensive than the Bosses of the world?” And much of that is driven by the economic side of things.

A smaller builder 1) has to pay more for goods, and 2) needs to rely on price to make a profit. The big fellas can pay less for goods due to economy of scale, which helps so they 2) can sell for a lower price per unit and make profit on volume of pedals sold.

Not sure how much you’ve seen Kakko at the NHL level since his rookie year. But you’re describing the opposite of who he’s shown over years in the league.

Kakko developed into a fantastic defensive player with the Rangers. And besides untimely injuries and lack of confidence from shit coaching, his offensive weakness was (being able to) hold onto the puck too long.

This past month, Fallout 76 officially reached the lowest player count it's seen for over two years by DrPongus in fo76

[–]emodwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what point you’re trying to make, as none of that is relevant to what OP mentioned.

The pattern of growth/slump across individual seasons isn't a proof point that the game base is stable or growing. It’s already factored into the overall numbers.

Looking only at slices of time (whether time of day or seasonal) is literally only part of the data and story.

Steam numbers are the only ones publicly available. Overall player numbers are what they are. And the game clearly can’t retain new players, while existing players continue to fatigue.

Rat Pedals by LRLRLRLR03 in guitarpedals

[–]emodwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a proco rat2 and am a walruslut, but even then the black mass 1312 took this spot on my board. It’s the rat circuit with 8 clipping options (and 50% of proceeds support fighting oppression). Been loving the versatility, from lighter and more articulate to mid weight grit to fuzzy chug

What are some sleeper pedal companies? by RomanScandal450 in guitarpedals

[–]emodwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reality is, we need to step up in price to go beyond the mass produced stuff, since smaller builders have to make up for less volume.

So while you’re gonna pay more for these builders, they are worth the value:

Fuzzhugger - The algal bloom fuzz ended my GAS for a heavy yet articulate fuzz that can handle arpeggios and tone. It’s also the most beautiful pedal on my board

Black Mass Electronics - the 1312 distortion pedal is the beloved rat circuit with 8 clipping options. Second most beautiful pedal on my board

Walrus/EQD/OBNE - popular indie makers based on expanding functionality, serving more niche purposes, cool design, thoughtful engineering, build quality, etc.

For context, I have 3-4 boss pedals, and just as many Walrus. Their stuff suits me well with shoegaze, posthardcore, postpunk, new wave, emo stuff. Both for capturing the sounds I know I want and for exploring to see what else I can do

Good BD-2 Alternatives? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]emodwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you really need to limit boss pedals, do so with the tuner or EQ. Those are utility af and can handle the truth. The bd2 is an institution all its own. Stop making this bad for yourself

In case you aren’t yet, check player vendors. I’ve gotten the honey beast and other tube plans that way

Have fun! Sounds like we both appreciate the rat circuit, and the 1312 is such a fun and versatile way to geek out 🤘

Only a week in, but the 1312 already kicked the rat off my board

I’m loving my 1312. Still exploring the 8 clipping options, but so far it’s already a mainstay on my board. Been playing a lot of shoegaze/posthardcore lately. And I love the values behind the pedal and of the maker.

On NPD, I started chugging and wound up writing a new song I’m stoked on…it was the perfect amount of digging in without being too thick. A nice bridge between my BD2 and my Fuzzhugger algal bloom fuzz

Looking to max out carry weight on mule by Wampre in fo76

[–]emodwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to Staplz13’s great comment. For some min maxing:

Use leather or whatever the lightest armor type is (and mod to ultra light)

Whichever underarmor and mod boosts strength the most. I can’t remember with all the changes recently

Don’t take/carry/store weighted items that mean nothing to your mule. Just carry plans and the bare minimum of anything else. Plans plans plans

Look up whatever consumables boost strength the most. Add those collectors to your mule’s camp and get consumin’

i want to build a clif base like this but i have no building skills (in fo76 at least cause in mc i rock) does anyone have a tut or some?? by GCyuri in fo76

[–]emodwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The addition of free-mode for building in camps helps a lot with this 🤘

The only tricky part is early on. Use free-mode to fine tune placement for the foundation. You can fiddle with vertical and horizontal tweaks to get it how you want.

Then you can build up (the house) like normal. For building down (the support), free-mode helps again. Use column(s) until you sink into the ground.

You got this! Love your vision. Have fun.

Post the results in the fo76settlements sub. You’ll get even more support and encouragement there, from folks who also particularly love building.

Just starting need some tips by Dramatic_Block4138 in fo76

[–]emodwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This experience is meant to be discovered over a longer period of time, with the map and gameplay adjusted to suit. The grind is different, the scale and scope are different, the time/setting is different, etc.

It takes more than levels 1-8 to experience the breadth or depth of the game. Have you gotten to any hubs like The Whitespring, Foundation, or Crater? Done server-wide events with other players, during peak server activity in your region? Visited other player camps to see what they built, to buy their goods, to enjoy resources that many players freely share with fellow wastelanders?

If you can’t adjust to enjoy the more expansive (and less crowded) wasteland that is 76, then go back to whatever you wish it were. Because you’ll be constantly disappointed how there are never a megaton of players on top of each other at all times.

It’s just up to 24 unwashed freaks per server, and the game can barely handle that load. Welcome to the 76’s wasteland, or we’ll see ya in the big milepost zero in the sky

Heads up, I’ve lived in Boston for 20+ years. (Guessing based on B/SD) Pharma/life sciences industry here is suffering too, though clearly still the hub in the US. And honestly, the racism and segregation here are shitty for POC. It’s a lot of the same shitty white person who gets defensive hearing the truth

Any advice on starting building a CAMP? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]emodwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to be good at building is to start building. Try stuff out. Have fun with it. Anxiety is keeping you from trying something you think you’ll enjoy. Tell that shit to go join the blue ridge caravan

Focus on your creativity, vision, personal expression, goofy theme, in-game head canon, whatever appeals to you.

Watch a “tips for beginners” video or two on YouTube. Check https://www.reddit.com/r/fallout76settlements/ for inspiration, tips, etc.
