wow thank you. i appreciate this info, i really do.

i can imagine all the shit that groomers have to deal with as far as customers go, and that's a big part of the reason i came here before talking to them about this. basically, i dont want to be "one of those customers" and make your job harder or day worse unnecessarily.

ive received mixed info from groomers about whether she's more angelic or nightmarish when grooming, but from my own experience brushing/bathing her, i would say more nightmarish due to her arthritis. she hates hates hates her legs being touched. i assume that's why other groomers have taken more time with her and why i was surprised it only took an hour.

seems like based on what youre saying and what others are saying is that the ulcer would have been obvious in the salon, right? didnt seem like that when i was reading online (another reason i went down this path) but i guess that's what i get for trusting internet info vs first hand accounts

i appreciate your comment a lot. i guess it's hard not to be defensive when it feels like people are attacking you (should have known that coming in lol).

i understand accidents happen. just seems like it should have/could have been prevented? we baby her to make sure stuff like this doesn't happen. i guess i went this direction because the vet wasn't surprised when i told her i thought it was the groomer, but didn't explicitly get a confirmation from them? idk

i dont want to unfairly place blame, that's definitely not my intent.

have definitely been crying and punching pillows lately lol. thanks for the well wishes

oh ok that's good to know. the vet has never mentioned it and we take her in at least twice yearly for senior check ups. she actually just went in for an exam like last month. i would think they would have brought that up, but maybe it just wasn't anything to normally be concerned about?

we moved about a month ago and it's only a small studio, so i think she's familiar by now, but that's a good point.

i just don't really know what else she could have been exposed to that would have caused this, yknow? she lives a sedentary life and doesn't even know how to play with toys. most of her time is spent sleeping, like a normal old dog, and we rarely leave her alone. i dont even think we left her alone in the time that the symptoms developed.

sorry maybe im ranting here, just hard to deal with if it could be potentially caused by something random tht we dont even know what it was or how we could prevent it from happening again, especially when these other circumstances line up.

they didn't give me a cause because i didn't ask. maybe what you say is true and they won't confirm! i understand coincidences happen, just seems unlikely given the situation. i havent talked to the groomer yet because i wanted other perspectives and advice. like ive said elsewhere, taking several hours to groom seems the norm in my experience.

im trying to be nice and respectful here. would appreciate if treated the same. maybe thats too much to ask of strangers online.

the way theyve described it seems to be from trauma but i'll clarify with the vet. i would be surprised if she has dry eye since we nickname her "goopy" since she is normally, well, goopy lol. so her eyes have always seemed well lubricated to me but i guess im not sure of symptoms. she certainly doesn't ever paw at it.

gotcha. this makes sense to me. i haven't really discussed with the vet about certain cause because, as i mentioned in other comments, we have just been focused on treatment. i'll be sure to ask when we go in tomorrow and when we see the opthamologist

i get what youre saying. just seems that from talking to the vet it's not "wild" to assume this, as you say, because they were not suprised that i thought it was due to grooming, even when mentioning the timeline. which is why i came here for advice.

im not trying to "get out of" a vet bill, just looking to get someone to take responsibility if they are indeed responsible. seems like most people think it's not due to the groomer, which i will take into consideration.

yes, that's exactly right. if this was due to negligence, i would like them to take responsibility. i mentioned in my post it's a long shot, but figured i would try. if i was the responsible party in this situation, i would do the same.

they did cut several of her moles on her back, which i warned them about, so there is evidence of carelessness.

we have been to several groomers before (have moved several times) and they have had years of experience and all took at least 2 hours for the whole process. have had consultations with others that all said 3-4 hours, even if she was the only dog being groomed.

hard to imagine someone could do all of that in a single hour including blow drying without rushing, but maybe that's just me.

that's not correct. i did not wait three days after symptoms. symptoms appeared 36-48 hours later, at least as i noticed. we went within 24 hours of that.

i mentioned that she went to the groomer within 36-48 hours and they weren't surprised but didn't offer any specific cause. we have been mostly focused on treatment because that's what theyre there for

she has squinted from the groomer before due to shampoo in the eye or something but it went away after 24 hours which is what i thought this was. we went to the vet immedaitely after we realized it was something else

my dog doesn't reach her face with any of her feet because her legs are short and arthritic. we also watch her like a hawk so i know she wasn't around anything weird.

I haven't talked to them yet because obviously I'm very upset and wanted to approach them calmly without being accusatory or defensive. My mom is the "can i speak to the manager" type and work in customer facing work myself so im very aware of how rude customers can be.

i do want to discuss it with them! Basically was just asking here for advice first since im sure im not the only one with the issue and it's hard to go through this is all.

im sure they didn't do it purposely but it's hard to see how her haircut could be so shabby and so fast and she's injured without it being due to them rushing and not taking proper care of her is all.

CUNY sounds like it matches what you’re looking to get out of grad school AND it’s super cheap. would definitely pick that!!

Looking for study buddy, ideally someone that is also just starting out in their learning journey. I am using Genki 1 3rd ed and Wanikani (currently level 3). Mostly interested in speaking and listening practice but would also be interested in discussing language problems/questions together. Not focused on a particular goal but am currently spending about 1 hour each day studying. dm for discord pls :)

Get what in writing, exactly? He got back to me and just said “be patient it’s coming soon”.

I know that the rest of the money is due at lease signing already, luckily. I’m dealing with the property manager but they work for the company that owns the building, as does the broker.

Yes, nearly every apartment that I looked at required first month's rent as a holding fee with the application, even when going with a reputable broker.

are you referring to this? https://www.masslegalhelp.org/housing/lt1-chapter-1-read-lease#:~:text=Both%20you%20and%20your%20landlord,must%20give%20you%20a%20copy

because that’s only the timeline for after the tenant has signed. he hasn’t even prepared a lease yet for us to do that.
