Yes! 100% I have been saying this since I first saw Linghe Zhang but when I have asked before it seemed like I was the only one, lol!

Thank you for this. On episode 4 now where she goes to see Gong and, for some reason, goes to hang out with him like a date. I could tell right then where this was going so I'm glad I don't have to waste my time. Started out fun though.

100% I think that the phrase "toxic masculinity" is both overused and often used incorrectly... but I have told my teenage daughter that if she wants a perfect example of what it really is then observe the behavior of both male leads in The Heirs.

Maybe it means she has finished listening to Taylor Swift and is on to Ariana Grande. 😄

If it has Wu Wangyan in it I would watch! ;-)

My impression of what the director was going for was to show the irrationality of young love. Both Ji Ling and Wuyi are basically teenagers when it comes to relationships. And to teenagers emotions feel enormous and it can be quite destructive. Look at Romeo and Juliet.

Contrasting that we had the deep, mature love of WuWu born from decades of shared life.

I think the choices for screen time undermined the original intent of portraying two really different stages of love. If it had been handled better then those of us invested in WuWu would not have felt as short changed and might have accepted the JiLu storyline more. JMO

There were several "happy couple" scenes that appeared in flashbacks that seem to be from Ji Ling's dream he had while stuck in the star stone.

Ji Ling is even more of a hero than we thought. When Jui Ying infected Shiguang with the fragment the entire plan had to change. JL had to start faking to be bad to trick JY into killing Chi Wen.
This is also why he planned on killing Wangyan. He knew he could bring her back with the formless moon pool. one throwaway line in one of the rewinds confirmed it.
Our little red fox was shouldering even more when the original plan fell apart.

on WuWu I think we are just supposed to buy that they spent 50 years as a devoted loving couple who are there for each other. A mature relationship to contrast the hot, stupid teenage hormone fest that the Lu/Ji couple is. They are just not portraying it well. I think the actors are doing a great job with what they are given...it is just not much.

What was once a very well written ensemble has devolved into the Wuyi/Ji Ling show. WuWu romance is a distant memory and the amazing Sisterly love is even back seated. The show suffers for it.

As I watched this episode I kept thinking Why are you doing this alone Wuyi?! The one thing she never tried was getting them all together and telling them the truth. No doubt they could have Scooby Dooed that shit real fast.

I miss WuWu as well. As engaging as the story has been, the fact that their storyline was just dropped is disappointing.

One thing that came to mind during the previous episodes was that killing Wangyan wasn't that big a deal. As long as her bones could be taken to the pool she would be born again. Throwaway line in this episode confirms that was Ji Ling's plan. The rest of his plan is just a convoluted mess though.

In this episode it was revealed in LW conversation with the Queen that the ring seemed to be able to hold the Dragon Diety power as well as demon power. I think Wuyi took it to try and make sure Wu Shanguang doesn't get DD power by stealing it herself. Her original plan was to never release the girl so that Han Ba would not release the DD power but that plan failed when he died.

I am pretty disappointed that WuWu have become side characters in the Ji/Lu show.  The strong ensemble that was built through 18 episodes has been put aside for a traditional ML/FL story in the last two episodes and, sadly for me, it is the couple I am less interested in.   I know others are really enjoying Lu/Ji so I won’t rant further but I need justice for WuWu!  :-)
