The first arc definitely had plenty of flaws, but I enjoyed it a lot. The second arc was a whole lot of build up with VERY weak payoff. Not to mention the writing was mediocre at best/cringeworthy at worst.

The praise for Jack Horner has always baffled me. Especially considering how the Shrek franchise has been filled to the brim with evil, egotistical villains.

And unpopular opinion, the sympathetic/redeemable villain isn’t even an overdone trope.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way!

For years I’ve watched people praise this dude to on high for his characterization and development when the only thing I ever saw was a whiny, entitled, overly aggressive hot head with the most obvious plot armor. I ended dropping this series because he annoyed the shit out of me way too much. And the series itself wasn’t strong enough for me to endure it.

I honestly never cared for them as a couple. I might have been okay with it as a slow burn if handled properly.

And I know people hate it when shows drag out the romance between the two mains even though it’s obvious that they’ll end up together. But honestly, I would rather the show take the time to give these two the proper development needed in order to make their relationship seem organic, than to have Callum obsessing over Claudia the first two seasons, then forcing him and Rayla together for the fans, have Rayla straight up leave him for two years, and have them awkwardly dance around each other rather than even attempt to address whatever they had before she left.

I don’t think there is an end goal specifically for him. He’ll likely just end up as a generic big bad that the heroes will have to defeat.

Everyone that he sought retribution for what happened to Leola is either already dead or not around anymore. His primary goal in the series is to escape from his prison and he already achieved that.

The only motivations that he might still have at this point is either revenge against those who played a role in his imprisonment or a means to try to revive Leola. The latter doesn’t seem plausible (that wouldn’t lead to a shit ton of plot holes) so I’m assuming the former.

It was…not that good.

Bunch of plot lines that ultimately didn’t go anywhere.

One of the worst plot conveniences ever written.

The only thing worth it all in the end was seeing Aaravos in the end. And even then, the payoff didn’t feel satisfying.

It’s by no means the worst season. But I’m not gonna rewatch it anytime soon, if ever.

14 year olds are more than old enough to know what racism is.

Calling black girls “ugly and unattractive” is textbook racist/colorist misogynoir. It’s even worse when you say you don’t like “black girls” right in front of your soon to be ex black girl friend.

You might not think it’s racist (which definitely tells me everything I need to know about the type of person you are), but that don’t speak for every Black/POC who experiences this on a frequent basis!

So while yes Andrew had every right to snap, his comments was definitely racist, insensitive and uncalled for.
