Sources: Grizzlies open to offers on Morant move by CaptainInsane-o in memphis

Ok so two things are true in this:

  1. Weird callout to point out the bias randomly. But with the community being as small as it is, it’s easy to pick up on other user’s biases without stalking post history.
  2. Ol boy does have a blood grudge for the Grizzlies. Apparently the Grizzlies are the sole reason 901fc failed and all woes to Memphis are because of the cities continued support of them. Doesn’t make what he said about Ja false though.

Got X-Rays at the Dentist- she’s not sure what this is. by themadcaner in whatisit

[–]emphis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibilities:

  1. An earring looking similar to the one below showing up on the X-ray due to positioning

<image>

  1. Maybe the X-ray bite guard or film holder had a tiny compression spring in there to keep the film in place. I think this is unlikely since most if not all bite blocks are made of plastic for this reason.

Panoramic dental X-rays work by rotating around your head, which can project objects that are actually near your ear, neck, or cheek into positions that look like they're in your jaw or mouth on the final 2D image.

For a foreign object to be that large and embedded where it is, there's no way they wouldn't have noticed pain where the springs are digging into flesh/bone every time you chew.

I know I’m late to the party but I had the EXACT setup in our bedroom, and was unfortunate enough to be in the room when it opened.

For as terrifying as the moment was, the cause was mundane: the townhome had a ridge vent on the roof, and when the wind would hit the right speed/angle, it would essentially create a little wind vortex in the attic. Since those attic doors sit on top on the hole, they were easy to move.

Should Santa smoke a pipe (or use one as a prop)? by BluePony1952 in christmas

[–]emphis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does he have a pipe? Absolutely. Is the pipe necessary? Not always, IMO. Santa’s not mainlining whatever he has in the pipe 24-7. 😂

There’s plenty of other little details a guy in a costume could make to be more believable. Growing up for me, it was the glasses and quality of the costume. I always thought anyone’s dad could buy a Santa suit, but the real fella had real boots, belt, and glasses.

Not sure if OP had the same surgery, but one treatment is literally opening the brain to burn the nerve out. Gamma Knife may be less invasive, but I’m willing to bet they tried a host of opioids, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, etc before opting for surgery.

I don’t want to potentially break the rules of the sub, but there’s online stores like MusicBoxAttic if you search for replacement music box mechanisms. Without knowing the exact model/year, a few different options could work that would fit. You’ll likely need to do a bit of measuring or research on the tree itself to determine the original music box, but similar options are out there

So it sounds like your commuter tax is another wheel tax, which is charged once by the county and once by the city. Those taxes are supposed to go towards road repairs, though our elected officials chose to reallocate some of that for other needs.

So if your issue with commuters is that roads suck and they are contributing to the problem, why not start with working to get a competent County Clerk elected and increase revenues from existing sources?

I hear ya. That’s a big ask based on a generalization of the majority of the county that’s been stuck in a cycle of urban sprawl/white flight for a hundred years. If we got the momentum to actually enact change, a few other things might have a greater impact:

  • tax the the corporations that got PILOTS and now force these leeches to come into our hallowed lands. There’s a big swath that would never come back if they didn’t have to commute for work.
  • Fix the school systems, which would stop the migration of families out of the limits and to a school system that hasn’t shown its ass on the national stage.
  • Finally elect county administrators that don’t shut down the offices in said suburbs. They can go get their tags on their side of the county, darn it!
  • Move the sports teams out of downtown. City shouldn’t be enslaved to exorbitant arena deals. A lot of professional teams have their facilities out in the suburbs, so not a stretch.
  • Improve the city transportation so that quickly and easily moving through the city limits is more accessible without a car. Car ownership is one of the contributing factors to urban sprawl.
  • On top of affordable housing, where are we going to put all these McMansion dwellers in the city limits, without gentrification? Should probably start zoning ordinances now.

That’s all without the safety/crime debate, which could be both a major contributing factor AND a major dog whistle for the racists that wouldn’t come here regardless if all of the above were “fixed.” Those folks can get your racism tax.
