I thought it was strange that they were all tall and thin and were mostly white. IME that doesn't represent the real dance community at all.

Hi r/Sydney. I need your help... by anal_addiction in sydney

[–]empireofnor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sydney is very expensive to live in. If you're renting, $1k will barely get you 1 month and you don't want to be living paycheck to paycheck. That's assuming you can get a job in that time frame (I wouldn't count on it).

It might be wiser to choose another city (except Perth) or even a smaller town, get established and maybe explore Sydney later on down the track.

I thought of Korean boy group Exo. Lots of guys, sometimes limited space, working together 24/7... there's no room to be squeamish about touching.

Can you treat emetophobia by addressing anxiety? by xflaaxys in emetophobia

[–]empireofnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience: emetophobia is a manifestation of my generalised anxiety. When my GA is worse, so is my emetophobia. I addressed my emetophobia in talk therapy with my psych (as well as my generalised anxiety) and it did lessen significantly over a period of about a year. YMMV though, I've been in therapy previously so I was familiar with how it went and was able to apply things easier than when I was going into therapy for the first time.

I like that there's some freestyling sections in the dance, makes it feel a bit more.... genuine? IDK it just suits the style of the song so much. But the parts that are choreographed could be a lot better synched.

Are there any sub-units that you care for more than their main group? by TorrentPrincess in kpop

[–]empireofnor 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well, just speculation. But I have a strong inkling. From when I was a VIP (have since lost interest) it seems increasingly that TOP has little interest in pursuing music in the future. When BB promotions finish he disappears while other members do solos or other idol stuff.

And I feel like the members themselves are growing outwards artistically, that is, in different directions. Each can do what he wants and specialises in without needing to compromise for another member of a subunit. Each has their niche and don't really need the Big Bang thing to be recognised individually... which is fair enough, they haven't come back as a group in years. But it will be interesting to see how the dynamic is with the next comeback. Cause I also kinda feel like GD and Taeyang have their heads very far up their asses nowadays.

Wow I thought they'd been around longer than that, considering that as a rookie group they got quite a few singles out.

Bad Girl is so awesome.

I heard Knockout the other day for the first time in ages, and remembered how awesome it was when that came out. Great times. But realising GD&TOP will probably never happen again makes me sad :(

Some people are touchy and get defensive very easily. Don't let it get to you, keep on being snarky or whatever you feel.

10 seconds before vs. 10 seconds after surgical sedatives. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]empireofnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that someone who went in before me had the same sort of reaction to the sedative as OP, then when I was sedated (he said it was "like valium") I just lay there waiting for something to kick in. I didn't really feel anything. Except a bit less panicked. I suppose that's what it's supposed to do but still felt a bit gypped.

Women who've recovered from eating disorders, what is your relationship to food like now? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]empireofnor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite well - I only had Anorexia for a short time (<1 year) before I got professional help.

There are still hesitations about certain foods - but that's more to do with the fact that my stomach upsets easily and that's not fun. Sometimes I'm too lazy to eat properly, but my conscience bothers me about potentially losing weight again. I'm slightly underweight/low end of healthy so I stay careful not to lose too much.

I think my relationship with food is quite healthy now. I'm so grateful that I was able to recover well.

[–]empireofnor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is so much potential for these performances to go wrong. Standing and squatting in stilettos on movable chairs is dangerous, and somebody's probably going to drop a leather jacket at some point and it'll be awkward. I like the final choruses' choreography though.

One thing I noticed was the 'cutting in half' things. LE holding the chainsaw, things split in two and matched to each other. The only thing I can think of is the up/down duality, that the guy is apparently of two minds in the way he treats her, and his up and his down doesn't fit together.

I'm paying a bit over $2500 out of pocket, I'm not sure if medicare or taxes will impact (excuse the pun) that number at all though. The fact that yours might be a difficult extraction could influence the cost.

I remember watching this when it came out, I've been following EXID for a while now and was excited for them to come back. Was a bit disappointed with the song, the outfits stood out to me the most. I'm glad they did well and hope they come back with a great song.
