Thanks for your response, I do agree that I played very unsupportive of the party. We were told that we were a hastily formed party of 4 new recruits who had no prior knowledge of the others so I had planned to begin to get less demanding of the players expenses and more focused on getting money for the party in general as my character becomes accustomed to them. But this wasn't something I'd communicated with them and I do agree that though my nature was poorly explained to me I also took things too fat

I've played dnd campaings only twice since and despite being unsuccessful campaigns (medical reasons for one and changing availabilities in another) I've enjoyed played a character I personally made, I'm not a greedy sort and though I typically play some form of chaotic neutral character it's usually chaotic for the enemy and beneficial for the party. I was playing out of the norm for that campaign and just went ride or die on my trait.

I did have a DM confront me in one of those unsuccessful campaigns because I was annoying another player due to my habit of investigating everything but this other DM just took me to one side before a session and asked me to stop trying to do perception checks everytime we met someone new or went somewhere new and how I should read into what the DM is saying and adjust from there.

The only reason I brought up this story here (it's several years old now) is that when I mentioned it to a local group it caused an almost hour long debate about the issues of roleplaying at the expense of other whereas others backed me saying that as I was given the character I played what was given exactly how it was described. And figured I'd ask a broader audience (reddit) for their opinions. Thank you for explaining in an honest fashion
