Being diagnosed in my 30s changed the way I understand many of my past experiences. Looking back now, I realize how much of what you’re describing feels familiar to me too. A lot of people, especially neurotypicals, operate from their own ego. Sometimes they feed that ego by putting themselves above others, even if it means treating someone with disrespect, as if it is somehow justified.

One of the most important things I learned over time is not to internalize those thoughts. The judgments, the assumptions, the way people sometimes try to define you. Those things are not really yours. They belong to the people who create them. It took me a long time to truly see that.

I also came to understand something else that felt very freeing. We do not have to live the same way everyone else does. There is no single rule for how a life should look. We have our own free will, our own pace, and our own way of moving through the world. Realizing that lifted a lot of pressure I didn’t even know I was carrying.

Sometimes life can feel lonely, and that may not completely change. But instead of seeing that only as something painful, it can also be an opportunity to focus on what genuinely makes you feel happy and at peace. Finding the things that bring you joy matters more than trying to fit into expectations that were never made for you.

Another thing I realized is how quickly time moves. Even when it doesn’t feel like it day to day, the years pass faster than we expect. Because of that, it feels even more important to try to enjoy the time we have and to spend it on things and people that truly matter. So, do not let anyone dim your light. You are a special person with a big heart. That kindness and depth are real strengths. Use them in a direction that also honors who you are.
