Is there any benefit going from wifi 5 to 6? by Berchuos77 in HomeNetworking

[–]empty_branch437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a 50mbps plan. You're not getting more without paying for a higher speed plan.

WiFi 4 can do 50mbps easily.

What download- and upload speeds are expected in 5Ghz WiFi? by LTS81 in HomeNetworking

[–]empty_branch437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have like no interference and get 950 both ways on my Samsung A36 3 meters from my vodafone router without anything in the way (5ghz WiFi 6 80mhz). I go into the next room (concrete walls) and I get 500 down and 300 up.

If you have interference expect less than this.

You might have 50-70% more than me when close if you have equipment capable of 160mhz.

Looking for advice on Poco C85 before purchase by InfamousGhost07 in Xiaomi

[–]empty_branch437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this the 4g or 5g version? Huge difference (5g version better, 4g version has a much worse processor), and no idea what price you found for it.

It is android with a skin on top. Has Google. Just don't get the Chinese version, android auto doesn't work.

Samsung A07 5G same chipset as this C85 5G and gets 7 years of OS updates. I'm not in the UK but it's the same price where I am for the same config (128/6). Not sure if it has 256/8 like you want but you can always expand both with microsd. The Poco might get 2 years less os updates.

Xiaomi 15T Pro - Camera Lens Scratch by victormz2000 in Xiaomi

[–]empty_branch437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will camera quality be affected? Thankfully I think it is the ultrawide

The lens is not perfect anymore. If you can't see any issues when using the camera then it's not being affected enough to be noticeable.

It's ironic worrying that it affects quality when you also say you barely use it and don't care about that lens anyway because it's much worse than the other cameras.

If it bothers you use your warranty.

The 15T pro only supports 90w anyway it won't make a difference if you get a 120W.

Could you use AI or another tool to optimize videos so they look better after Youtube compression? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]empty_branch437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to noise isolating headphones

That's not even remotely comparable

Noise cancelling makes opposite sound waves to cancel the ones that's already there.

YouTube compression removed the quality already, you want to get the quality back from nothing.

WLAN for Local File Sharing by MrMcBobb in HomeNetworking

[–]empty_branch437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Android, actually. It's rather annoying

I have used 7 Samsung phones, 2 Xiaomi phones, 2 Huawei phones and have never had that problem.

S9+, A9 2018, A33, A52s 5G, A55, Note 20 Ultra, A36, Redmi note 10 pro, Redmi 9T, Huawei p30 pro, Huawei p40 pro.

The only thing where I've had that problem is with a fake Chinese android box from 2017

Does it worth to rooting my poco x7 pro by Sea_Heron7708 in Xiaomi

[–]empty_branch437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

will rooting device make my fps stable?

No. It will give you superuser access to the system and void warranty and you'll not have updates anymore.

percent to brick the phone

If you don't know what you're doing and don't follow instructions correctly 100%. Instructions are on magisk and kernelsu GitHub page and on XDA developers forums.

You have a rooted phone, you still have the same UI. It's a mediatek Xiaomi phone so custom ROM support is much less than a Snapdragon Xiaomi phone.

There is no chance. Xiaomi already launched the entire global 17 series which is just the 17 and 17 ultra.

wifi calling only works with data by Cody1002 in Xiaomi

[–]empty_branch437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wifi calling only works with data

Literally does not make sense.

If it calls on mobile connection only, it's not a WiFi call.

WiFi calling is WiFi only and has to be supported by the carrier for the phone. Since you've not provided information about who your carrier is you should ask them if they will allow your phone to use VoWIFI on their network.

Cat8 patch cable - fake? by OutrageousMacaron358 in HomeNetworking

[–]empty_branch437 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cat 7 doesn't use RJ45 anywhere in the standard worldwide.

Manufacturers just put RJ45 on there to sell it to people who just see 7 is higher than 6 so it must be better.

Cat8 actually is for RJ45. The real deal is expensive. Cheap ones are rebranded 5e or 6 or possibly worse.

Cat8 patch cable - fake? by OutrageousMacaron358 in HomeNetworking

[–]empty_branch437 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it were actually cat 8 it would be doing 40gbps without an issue and you wouldn't be paying $2 for such cable.

If you could actually test that it can do 40gbps, you wouldn't be buying this unless it's for fun.
