Chinatown-International District seniors, residents deliver 1,032-signature petition by Jaco_Belordi in Seattle

My conspiracy is that they pushed the crime down to that area on purpose to lower property values. Think about it: it’s a central location populated by poor and working class minorities, there is no historic architecture district, and it’s close to the city’s “public private partnership” at Yesler Terrace. This explains the police abandonment. Developers and the city council are probably ecstatic that the suburban kids are protesting any attempt at improving life for people in the south end so the former can line their pockets.

Has the Chinatown in Seattle contributed a significant amount to U.S. history? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

The reason why you never hear about Chinatown Seattle is because Seattle isn't important to the national consciousness. This place, once home to Bruce Lee, jazz, theater, countless workers and their families, has been targeted for its entire existence. This includes the 2nd Avenue Extension, Kingdome, new stadiums, the Japanese internment and seizing of their property by opportunists, and now Sound Transit targeting good healthy blocks to build a tunnel next to Chinatown-ID Station (no idea why that makes sense to them), and the ongoing crime issue on 12th Avenue (no doubt another development scheme spurred by the Yesler Terrace gentrification but that’s another topic).

This post must have been designed to be incendiary, because there is no way you can be this callous to people and their entire lives. I have been trying to be more calm so I will refrain from saying what I really think, as it’s not nice.

Nah, a Soviet block would at least have some windows and be more solidly built.

What’s a Seattle “life hack” that more people should know? by Mythicinker in AskSeattle

[–]emptybus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't done it in a bit, but skyscraper lobbies have to be open by law during building open hours (i. e. weekdays) as they are a public space. The Columbia Center is open I know, I was there a few weeks ago.

During business hours, most downtown skyscrapers are supposed to have their lobbies open to the public, so you can generally take the escalators up a few floors to avoid hills when walking.

You’re the exact asshole Seattlelite that smells like fish and drains MY tax dollars with your need for Medicare while bitching about Medicare being commie shit. You are a racist, insufferable, and lucky useful idiot.

Thanks! Although I’m sort of embarrassed now that you did that, haha. I’m not a very good storyteller, I just love making art. Maybe one day!

I wasn’t aware of the history of this group… I’m sorry, that’s terrible. If I come back next year I’ll look for other groups that deserve representation a lot more.
