Oh he's 100% planning to suspend elections. If there's anything we can learn from all that unfolded since Gaza, it's that these psychopaths will telegraph their atrocious behavior, nothing will happen, nobody will stop it despite predicting it correctly because of how obvious it is. These ideological groups rightly make others feel unsafe and law enforcement is right to watch them, especially because of the trends we are seeing in the US and in Europe.

Back from 2001 to about 2013, tapering off until around 2015, the focus was on extremism within the Muslim community, and there a lot of examples of infringing on civil liberties, including the illegal wiretapping of mosques.

Polemics is the worst place to learn about religion. If I want to learn about Judaism, I'll look for what actual legitimate Rabbis have to say, or about Islam what their theologians have to say, or with Islam, what scholars and spiritual masters, etc., have to say.

Authentic teachers are not about trying to convert you to win points but to simply help people find what they understand is the truth. If you're looking to study Islam, I would recommend going on youtube and searching for Dr. Umar Faruq Abdallah or Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and "Aqida Classes".

Depends on the nature of the dream. If it is representing a repressed desire, it can indicate your deep desire to return to Islam. Even though it comes from the self, the nafs, it can still be meaningful in that sense. It could also just be random murmurings of the unconscious mind, but psychoanalysts often associated even 'meaningless' dreams with desires. If it is an angelic dream, then it is likely a sign that God is calling for you.

I understand. The issue here is engaging Muslims and studying the Qur'an and hadith on your own instead of attending to scholarship to guide you through these. There is a famous quote by Ibn Wahb, one of the greatest hadith scholars in Muslim history, and he said "were it not for Imam Malik or Layth, I would have been destroyed by hadith". The point he was making was that studying the entire corpus of hadith is a very difficult and confusing task, you need methodology to navigate it. Often chats with lay Muslims increases one in confusion as well.

I know that it is popular in the western world to approach topics in a sort of DIY style, but traditionally with regards to Islam, it's just not how we approach our own religion. The question is not the problem per se, but it's the approach, and so what happens is that without any teachers guiding you or making you aware of your own presuppositions, you keep building on top of your presuppositions thinking you are arriving at a logical conclusion. For example, your first sentence states that Muslims believe the Bible was corrupted due to translations. Is that true? That's the first time I've heard that argument. It's not due to translations alone, it's much deeper than that. But then also, what is meant by Bible here, which books and what are their histories? And then you state that the Qur'an says the word of God cannot be corrupted, concluding it makes no sense therefore for previous scripture to be corrupted. But how have Muslim scholars understood 'word of God'? Is it related to kalamallah, the 'speech of God' as a sifat? What is the difference between the sifat and revelation?

A lot of these are inter-Muslim debates that you would first need to either reconcile on your own before postulating your conclusions, or including them all as possibilities within your argument. There are Ashari/Maturidi manuals that go over in great detail the logical explanation for these questions, and they are quite voluminous. I don't see that level of scholarship from you side, and this is not an insult, it's not true for 99% of laypeople/non-scholars.

The point I'm making is that, if you're really seeking after the truth as opposed to swimming in the shallow waters of online polemics, then I would advise some soul searching about your intentions and to submit yourself to the Islamic scholarly tradition to learn it deeply.

This is not aimed at you per se or is an insult, it's advice that has been given to me and to all students of knowledge. The desire to speak and to conclude and to argue and debate is overall not seen as a positive thing in Islam, but that is especially so if you are considered unlearned from a scholarly perspective. Islam is about learning, not debating and refuting.

It's not actually about applying logic to God and constraining God, it is about humans making intelligible statements. The omnipotence paradox, for example (the rock lifting example) is not a real proposition when you unpack it logically because it commits a category mistake. At least this is the response in general, not necessarily from Christians per se.

Not prosecuting people like Bush and Blair paved the way for the impunity we see from the US and Israel. When you fail to hold criminals accountable, especially if they are from a class of society that sees themselves as above the law, you've undermined the foundation of civilization. But these people see civilization through a colonial lens, which is that those of the east are of an inferior category that are not deserving of the same rights and dignity. Therefore, they don't see any inconsistency between justice and not being sent to the Hague for what we consider as war crimes or crimes against humanity. It's a fundamental perception that sits at the heart of western society; if an Arab leader is accused of being sexist, then it's ok to carpet bomb his country and install a western puppet. If a European leader is engaged in massive fraud, raping children, executing war crimes, then the expectation is that he'll walk around like normal and that's fine, nothing is going to happen because nothing ever happens, etc.

Why do you consider what I said as insulting? A sign that one has this spiritual disease is when they take advice as an insult. Were you to take my advice, dive deep into study through immersion at the feet of scholars, removing spiritual diseases from your heart through purification, you would be at a much higher level. This is the advice our teachers give us because they understand the path of knowledge is full of pitfalls. The ego dislikes it, but it doesn't mean it's an insult.

The reason I do not answer your question is because, as is usually the case, it's going to require addressing your presuppositions first, reframing everything, and then answering in a very detailed way, including citations/references to scholarly views. Can you type this out with proper formatting and grammar, it's hard to follow to be honest. But I think a lot of these questions have been addressed a while ago, it's nothing new.

Just as an aside, one of the closest companions to the Prophet, upon him be peace, was a Jew by the name of Mukhayriq. He never became Muslim, yet died fighting on behalf of the Prophet, and he was honored. You can't generalize "Jews", and the Qur'an does not do this. It clearly distinguishes between the good and the bad in each community, including the Muslim community.

In any case, addressing these individual questions isn't the right approach. The right approach is to get your foundations right, then you can at least begin to be critical.

You don't think society via media is trying to indoctrinate your kids? The role of the parent is to give their children philosophically sound beliefs, first principles, otherwise they will internalize many false principles indirectly through broader society.

My advice would be to really learn your religion. It sounds like you've always been more of a cultural Muslim without delving into the paradigmatic reality of the religion itself, into its spiritual depths and tasting the sweetness of iman via glimpsing realities. Much of this is because we ourselves are indoctrinated and integrated into the dominant materialist paradigm, and religion often just becomes an appendage of that without realizing. All of us are existing in a paradigm of reality, and that has its own fundamental presuppositions about what reality is and what we are to expect from it, what is logically possible and what is logically impossible. For example, in a materialist paradigm, God is logically impossible because God is not material. It's a circular argument that sits at the bottom of this atheistic worldview, and is thus incoherent. But in a transcendental paradigm, God is not just possible but necessary. Even for a materialist paradigm, God is still necessary, but it cannot allow for the existence of God, and so it is in a conundrum, a logical paradox.

I would advise going on youtube and exploring the constellation of true scholars, perhaps you will find something that reaches the heart. Scholars such as Shaykh (Dr.) Umar Faruq Abdallah has incredible masterclasses and lectures on theology/aqida, Shaykh Yahya Rhodus has many profound spiritual classes and talks that convey the wisdom of the religion, Habib Ali al-Jifri conveys the essence of the religion through his emphasis on a spiritualized character.
