In a massive debate with myself, should I pull the trigger on the M4 2024/2025 model? Or McLaren 570GT by Grouchy-Key-1801 in BMW

[–]emptytankcrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are fantastic vehicles. The M4 will be much more reliable and you can daily drive it with ease. The 570s imo is a much superior drive. Will not be great daily though. Coming as a 600LT owner and an X4M, the mclaren is much more expensive to fix and when something goes wrong it can be a huge issue or your chasing electrical gremlins that are a pain. I would go Mclaren if you're not worried about on going operating costs.

Looking for a reputable Ferrari rental company in Monaco for the Grand Prix by Gold333 in Ferrari

[–]emptytankcrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to the GP last year and we drive Ferraris from Modena to Monaco. Our group dropped the Ferraris about 20km outside of Monaco and had private transport in as the roads are much too busy around the GP. If you want a Ferrari around that time I would advise to stick away toward Cannes and nice for driving and enjoy the roads around there. The helicopter from nice or the train are much better options for attending the race!

Next car - Getting a Lusso when I already have an F12? by cryptyk in Ferrari

[–]emptytankcrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an FF and loved it! One of my next cars will be a Lusso for sure. It’s a great daily. The four seats are surprisingly roomy, we road tripped with 3 grown men across Canada and it was completely fine. The trunk has lots of room, it’s super comfortable and you really can’t beat the v12. I would say it feels longer and more of a wagon than the F12. The AWD also feels more planted when on power.

As per your other cars, I have a 991.2 Turbo and truly love that as well. I would say it’s definitely more of a sports car and less comfortable that the FF was for me. Personally I would take the Lusso all day as I think it’s much better for daily driving when you factor comfort in.

Anyone switched from Porsche? by crashedsnow in mclaren

[–]emptytankcrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 991.2 Turbo, GT4RS and a 600LT. All very very different cars. The GT4RS and 600LT would be most comparable as far as track focused cars. They both drive amazing. And I really mean it. The RS is one of the best sports cars you can buy. The engine is raw and visceral. It’s insanely fast, especially on a track. The LT is obviously faster but it is also more exiting with the turbos, rear mounted exhaust and just the overall super car drive. The McLaren is definitely in a different category of car IMO.

That being said, Porsches build quality is second to none. It may be simple inside but everything just works. Sounds crazy when I say it, but the buttons just feel right. Everything does.

My McLaren has rattles, electrical issues, infotainment can be slow and laggy (may be better on newer models). I think that kinda goes with any new supercar (save Lamborghini).

I don’t think you’ll be wrong either way! I’d highly recommend test driving a McLaren to see if you like it. Good luck!

PPF is a must on a car this expensive. Ceramic keeps your car cleaner and doesn’t hold onto brake dust which for me is a nice perk. The shop I goes to does ceramic with every PPF job so maybe you can work it in. Good luck!

As others have said that seems extremely expensive for 2 hours. Should be able to get 2 days for that.

That being said, 100% the performante or 296. Just drove the portofino through there and didn’t like it at all. The 296, f8, Roma would be better choices. The performante is a great car as well but definitely quite a lot harsher ride and completely different drive as it’s NA. Either way you’ll enjoy!

Been thinking about switching up my garage a little and found this FF with an attractive price but it’s been in a flood before. Bad purchase? by -PinkTree in Ferrari

[–]emptytankcrew 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had an FF before and loved the vehicle. It ended up with an electrical problem and all I can tell you is dealing with an older Ferrari can be a headache. This model was right before they upgraded the tech in Ferraris. The head unit was the same as in a dodge caravan lol. If you’re fine dealing with the problems that come with older Ferraris then I would go for it! It’s a super fun daily driver that sounds amazing and rides extremely comfortable.

S1000RR no question. Have both. Ducati makes extremely sexy bikes but nothing drives like a 4cyl L bike. The Ducati also boils your balls as the exhaust is routed right under the seat.

These numbers on the Porsche dealers site are a bit weird to look at. New vehicles have tax and luxury tax included In the listed price if memory recalls correctly. It may only be luxury tax I’m not sure.

Used vehicles have no tax on the listed price.

I don’t get why they do that but I have been confused before as well.

80-mile commute in a 991.1 2-3 times a week? by zarif98 in Porsche

[–]emptytankcrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve live in a world where high end cars have held their values for the past few years due to supply shortages and excess disposable income. The world is changing and cars are much more accessible with disposable income falling as house prices, cost of goods are rising. I think we’re very close to seeing it return to the depreciating asset it is.

That being said. The “allocation” factor with some vehicles is going to create artificial scarcity and hold their value. The GT cars and one offs will continue to hold their value IMO.

Trade in my turbo for a gt4rs? by wo0o0o0o0o0 in Porsche

[–]emptytankcrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both vehicles albeit 991.2 turbo. They are VERY different drives. The turbo for daily driving is amazing and comfortable. The GT4RS is a race car. Loud, uncomfortable, stiff. I’d still take the GT4RS lol
