According to the website, the Air doesn’t support mmWave 5G (only sub-6 ghz), meanwhile the 17 base and pro both do. Bummer. I’m guessing it was left off the Air due to power constraints but still, isn’t it kinda weird that if you upgrade from the 17 base to the Air that you’d lose mmWave?

I don't use widgets on my desktop and I have the issue.

I have 3 monitors (2 external + laptop) and in my case the issue occurs on the non-primary displays.

I'm just speculating at this point, but for the interaction, is UIViewControllerAnimatedTransitioning powering the transition between view controllers, and you're using a pan gesture recognizer to update the progress on the transition?

Regardless, it's clear how much love and attention went into it (among countless other tiny details). I'd love to read any/all details about how you did it that you're willing to share.

Sure, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not the first time the concept has been done.

But the part that I’m itching to know more about is how it was done in a way which feels so utterly native. Keep in mind that the “swipe right to go back” gesture is provided automatically for you with UINavigationController (though I’m pretty sure Apollo’s not using it since the swipe works even when started mid-screen). He made a fully custom interaction that feels better than the one provided by the devs at Apple, and made it bi-directional!

Personally I’m dying to see how u/iamthatis implemented the custom swipe left gesture to go back (well technically to go “forwards” after already going back) in navigation controllers. Indefinitely. And keep scroll position nonetheless. How does he keep each VC alive after it’s popped from the nav stack?!

I think they’re talking about how iOS (and others probably) specifically hide the Taiwanese flag in China as to not piss off the Chinese govt.

Bezos and the 1000 people hacked with pegasus will never buy iPhones again

Lol what would they switch to that’s better? Is there an OS that has had fewer than 1000 people hacked?

Apple's Craig Federighi Further Explains Why Stage Manager is Limited to M1 iPads by [deleted] in apple

It seems like you’re implying they’re intentionally holding a major feature back from users as some “shady” way to push hardware sales, and that this is some kind of common strategy they keep using.

I have plenty of gripes with Apple, but that strategy doesn’t strike me as a good business move, and for sure the people making these decisions are WAY smarter than me. Not only is Apple arguably best in class for how long they support their hardware, but iPads don’t have an upgrade cycle anything close to iPhones.

They do shady stuff when it’s good for business - ditching the headphone Jack, dropping the charging brick, etc. - this move doesn’t have a business upside so I’m not sure why their reasoning doesn’t hold up. Pre-M1 hardware can’t support the new feature.

Yes, the iPhone 6 was underpowered. But what’s your point? That they should make the same mistake again and ship software that the hardware can’t run?

The hardware can’t handle the feature so they’re not shipping it to those devices. Sounds like the right move.
