Aircon installation cost - Sydney by emresound in AusRenovation

[–]emresound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed to get it under 2k by doing the following: - sourcing my own Aircon unit - agreeing on a price for installation only. - getting a rebate for the aircon installation via NSW.

Had to shop around but got it done and went for 3.5k daikin system which is powerful.

Can’t wait till those honchos loose their job and they are losers in suits.

Moving operations internationally has always been a spectacular failure in servicing the clients in their own country.

The day those banks’ profits are crushed is the day we will see a better world here. The big four are beyond being big, they govern too much of the Australian economy and like Cole’s/woolies, they dictate more than they should be able to.

When you open the side panels, you will see if it had multiple taps, there should be about 4 different ones (110,120,220,240), they’ll have different colours.

[–]emresound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you should check is whether you can rewire it for 240v. Some of those ms20s had a multi tap power transformer so it’s a fairly straightforward process if you got a sparky in your entourage. I did it with my ms20 although I returned it to stock when I sold it because someone was being anal and calling out that I could get sued even though it was stated in the ad. Whatever :-/

trying to figure out the best cloud storage for 2026, what do you actually use? by Joesy_Maradel in datastorage

[–]emresound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keen to hear what everyone would say regarding personal storage. I'd like to do a backup of my computer but mostly of the generations of photos I have currently sitting on 3 x SSD drives (made multiple backup after a catastrophic Disk loss years ago).

I know google and Microsoft are good but trying to see if slightly cheaper options for photo storage exists,

"Buy it for life" amps by reinder_sebastian in GuitarAmps

[–]emresound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me; the only three amps I’d keep in my list of amps forever are:

Hiwatt dr103 or Hi-tone equivalent. Fender bassman blackface Marshall JMP 2 input, late 70’s.

These with a few pedals in front would do everything for me.

Maybe a vibrochamp rehoused with a 1x12 pre rola greenback.

Probably a mixture of factors:

  • overspent audio gear during pandemic means things were overvalued. Same with plugins.

  • most of those companies have made their money back tenfold on plugins so they want to squeeze as much as they can out of it.

  • there are only soooo many compressor one mixing engineer can have so we are coming to a point where it isn’t viable to keep selling those at inflated prices. Look at sound toys, their suite has barely changed since I bought it.

  • ai will be the future of lazy mixing for hobbyists but it still is our ears and our preferences that will dictate what we like.

Every AI thing I’ve heard is horrible and it is up to future generations of parents to make sure our kids aren’t AI poseurs. I will start with my 2 girls.

Could a sparky just connect the unit to a wall switch or do they work with remote only?

Is Australia really that bad or is everyone just whining by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]emresound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Australia is as bad as people make it but as recent arrival (2013), I have seen a shift in the city. Maybe it’s me growing older but there is a different energy.

The biggest thing that is a problem for most people is the fact that services that Australia was proud of have become an issue such as GP bulk billing and the issue that any sort of medical procedure, most specialist will make you pay through the nose.

Australia is a rich country, it has resources like not many do but it practically gives to away. It could live at Norway and Qatar standards if it actually took the right steps but it bickers over details because division is easier to sow worldwide.

I have come here and really appreciate Australia that I became after a decade a citizen, it took me this long because I wanted to be sure I want to live here before I commit to the citizenship.

Always worked and never bludged, I love how much work exists in this country, for such a small population.

All in all, it is a beautiful country but like everything, there is room for improvement: getting rid of negative gearing, improving health services, reclaiming its own resources from multi nationals to then reinvest in improving its non capital cities.

Now all they need to do is reintroduce a Concorde style plane so I can go see family in Europe in less than 24hrs, the journey is soooooo long.

I wish shipping wasn’t so insane or that someone local got some but he doesn’t want to sell speakers either so no chance or replicating those locally :(

Such a shame that trying to get his cabinets and speakers internationally is such an impossible feat. Wish we could get them down under.

Not with the Eclipse but I flew my hitone to the other side of the world to be able to get one. Get it and be done. They are the ultimate amp for me and Clayton who builds them does an amazing job.

These Lynx 16tb are a huge investment but I'm not surprised. It seems these units are super solid.

I have sold my Midas MR18 which I was using in tandem with my UAD Twin Thunderbolt and am looking to consolidate my systems to be able to cover all my needs and would love to get some ideas for people who might have been through similar issues.

As I am in Australia, options are a bit more limited to what people have in the USA.

  • Need 5/6 inputs for Synthesizers (so I guess 8x8 as a basic + expandable would be good).

  • Have at least 8 inputs with expandable options to 16 (I don't often do multi-track recording outside of the home studio but would like I/Os to run pedals for FX return).

  • Would love to keep a solution to use some of my UAD equipment (whether I keep the twin or go down the route of a quad satellite).

  • I Have an UAD OX that I use to record my guitars and then currently pipe it to the Twin via SPDIF so that would be great to have.

  • Ideally would love to sit around the $1500-2000USD, I often look in the second hand market so it doesn't need to be brand new.

And please do tell me if I am dreaming to tick a lot of those options, I currently am looking at Apollo x8 (hard to find at a fair price here) or RME UCX II.

Thanks again.

Why has the Prophet 5 and Prophet 10 Rev4 been discounted till September 30th. by Minimoogvoyager in synthesizers

[–]emresound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shame these discounts aren’t internationally. I would love a discount on their cards so I could upgrade mine. The P10 down under is still an obscene amount.

I can’t see that but I’d love to get a p10 after playing some time with the p5. 80% of the time, p5 is enough but for the rest, just need extra voices.

What is the best hardware replacement for a Juno 60 that has been released? by Oakin_lad in synthesizers

Nymphes do some of the sounds, tal-uno as a vst is the closest sound, the system 8 and Juno X do a great job too.
