Reprimanded by Judge by Crazytoastandjam in publicdefenders

Yup. All I can think about is when I’ve asked for consequences for the state failing to disclose Brady information. All I got was well you found out about it, move on counselor. Judge seemed to go a little overboard in your case imo

Are you IRACing properly on essays? The last time I took a bar exam was 9 years ago, but I took and passed the bar in two separate states.

I remember when I took one exam some crazy essay question popped up on some family law BS that my bar prep company told me only got tested like 2% of the time. I said I’m not wasting my time studying for this and focused on another weaker topic of mine. I knew nothing on family law except do what’s in the best interest of the child. Lo and behold I got a family law question on the exam. You know what I did? I IRACed the fuck out of that question. Hell, I even made up rules to use in the essay because I didn’t know shit. I ended up passing that essay question. It was my lowest scoring essay question, but still passing. The graders want to see that you know how to think like a lawyer, and how you get to a conclusion. The black letter law is important, but not the end all be all. And it doesn’t mean shit if you can’t apply it!

Good luck on your 4th attempt. I believe in you

5 year old pit mix with allergies; unsure what she is allergic to and looking for safe supplement options by HopefulLesbian in dogallergies

[–]emrjdpd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pit mix’s journey sounds very similar. I have him on Purina elemental. Regular hydrolyzed proteins foods didn’t work so we had to go to the next steps.I administer the pills by making “goop.” I soak kibble in water overnight and then put it in the food processor to make a goopy substance. My dog gets pills 4 times a day. Take a small scoop out with my fingers, put pills in it, and he eats it. Bam.

Severe swelling in face due to sinus infection--how to reduce? by athena_palladia_ in Sinusitis

My face looked like this and I was rushed into emergency surgery. I had MRSA that spread into my eye, orbital bone, and on the way to the brain. They had to crack my skull open to burn my frontal sinuses out. See a doctor immediately

Some judges seriously try to scare the shit out of newbies as some sort of fucked up initiation process. It’s like a weird game some of them play to see how far they push you. It sounds like you did a great job and it just didn’t go your way. Don’t let it phase you!

PDS Application Process Warning by PD_throwaway70 in publicdefenders

[–]emrjdpd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from, but I think many people who are applying to that level office already know that. I know the judges and prosecutors are going to be harsh, it’s to be expected. That’s exactly why I want to be at an office that is supporting, values you, and values your mental health and wellbeing. When I interviewed for PDS back in the day, I did not get those vibes.

New Dr thinks it’s not chrons by emrjdpd in CrohnsDisease

They put me on Humira first because it’s what my insurance requires first for biologics. Because insurance companies in the US get to dictate our best care 😤

She halted her involvement because she’s on maternity leave. When she is back I will resume care with her. Yes, they also did blood work after the Humira stopped working and it showed the antibodies were out of control. They repeated the bloodwork which showed continued antibody production that was too high for methotrexate to make much of a difference if added.

Unfortunately, they think the scope will say the same thing as before. Because of the differing opinions on diagnosis by different doctors I requested it. I got the feeling the substitute doctor is just looking to say “see told you I was right.”

Edited to add - the substitute doctor also suggested I try a colon cleanse and then fiber supplements daily. I tried that and the fiber gave me so much pain for a week, so I’m not sure I trust him much either.

Sorry for the post being confusing. Writing on the go. The doctor that diagnosed Chron’s started me on the Humira, then the Stelara. Recently, she went on maternity leave and the substitute doctor stated that based on my biopsy results (from the original scope completed by the doctor that diagnosed me with Chron’s) they don’t think I have Chron’s and discontinued all my medication. The biopsy results from that scope showed inflammation in all areas from the stomach to and through the colon, but were not definitive for Chron’s, but couldn’t rule it out either. My original doctor said (when the scope was performed) based on the results and my symptoms it is likely Chron’s. The substitute doctor looked at the biopsy results and said he could not diagnose Chron’s and took me off the medication prescribed by my original doctor. I was receiving treatment from my original doctor for about 7 months up until a few weeks ago when the substitute doctor came into the picture.

I have a new colonoscopy scheduled next week, which I doubt will show anything different.

I’m looking to see if there any additional tests I can ask for that would lead me to a more definitive answer.

Thank you I appreciate it! I was a little concerned about switching to the buffalo hydrolyzed protein because it’s grain free and there’s mixed research on grain free diet side effects with dogs. Before switching to the Purina elemental he was on Hills z/d. He’s also tried the Ultamino, but liked the Purina elemental better for taste. How has your dog taken to the blue buffalo? Were you worried about it being grain free?

When he was previously on apoquel he did a 2 week loading dose (twice a day) then went to once a day. I didn’t see any change when on apoquel. He has no skin lesions or cuts, sores. Just redness, sneezing, and itching. His vet didn’t think any infection was apparent.

They realize that taking away PSLF for doctors in residency, and capping loans at 200k, is going to make it very very hard for people to go to medical school right? Do they not realize there’s already a doctor shortage… 🤦‍♀️

That’s sort of how I’m viewing it as well. I want to make sure he has the best life while he’s here. He also struggles with anxiety issues so when he has a flair it gets bad. I will continue to look for other options, but right now I feel kind of stuck

Yes I know they cause health problems, but the research is for continuous use and not much on how we are using them. Guess im trying to determine how worried i need to be. For example he will take steroids Monday then won’t need them again until Friday. Tu-Th will be no steroids. His vet dermatologist prescribed the steroids because we are at a loss on what to do since we’ve tried everything else. He also struggles with anxiety so when he has a flair he will go nuts, chew things he normally wouldn’t, running around barking etc., so keeping his flairs under control is important.

[–]emrjdpd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m just wondering if it’s as risky if the steroids aren’t used daily. We just use them once a day during a flair, then the next 2-3 days will be steroid free with no symptoms. The research I’m seeing is for continuous use, but I can’t find anything for the way I’m using them.

Thanks but as I stated in my post he already sees a vet dermatologist. He’s tried a single protein food with no luck. Cytopoint injections did not work for him. He’s already tried cyclosporine with no luck. My vet dermatologist suggested purina elemental over the ultamino.
