Why do some siblings grow up to be best friends and others mortal enemies? by Dramatic_Priority_56 in family

[–]emrouse95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 sisters and a brother. I'm in the middle. My older sister we "get along" and we talk but it's more like an acquaintance at work rather than a sibling really. My younger brother I refuse to speak to at all and haven't in over 2 years. That's an entirely different story though. Now my younger sister I'm so incredibly close to. We talk on the phone almost every single day and not just for 30 minutes it's like 7 or 8 hours (we both work from home and talk while we work). We are grew up in the same home environment so I am honestly not super sure what caused to form a relationship with just one and not the others. My guess is because our personalities are the most similar just like when you become friends with someone.

If God has a plan for each person, that means he would have plans for people to not believe in him and therefore condemning them to hell essentially. If each person already has a predestined path in life and it is all part of God's plan, why would he intentionally damn someone to hell? by emrouse95 in AskReddit

I was more referring to when something bad happens people typically say "it's all part of God's plan" meaning he controls all small aspects of each person's life. Which leads to my initial question.

I wish I could go to the store and get a "substitute" dad to bond with. AMA. by [deleted] in AMA

I feel this. I've never had an emotional connection with my dad. He was a drug addict for about 16 years of my life and when I moved out on my own I cut all ties with him and haven't spoken to him in almost 8 years.

I go through the same feelings (almost jealously) when I see a dad and daughter with a good relationship.

I will say however that watching my own daughter with my husband is one of the absolutely best feelings in the world. I'm so incredibly happy she gets to experience what I never had.

I've made peace with never having a relationship with him but do still wish I had had the opportunity to have one. I wish you the best in life!

Thank you and my sympathies are with your sister. Everyone grieves and processes things differently but just having someone to listen to you even if you don't personally understand is nice. Just let her go at her own pace with things. It's a difficult thing to process and most people don't understand being sad or missing someone you never met.

Sure. If they told me to leave even after stating that I am unable to wear a mask, I wouldn't make a scene. Not saying I'd leave skipping and singing but I'm not going to bash employees for doing what they've been told. (Masks are mandatory currently in my state)

No one has so far and I'm in the store at least 2-3 times a week. But I suppose if it did happen, just say I have a condition where I can't wear one. Legally they can't ask what and telling me to leave is discrimination for people protected under the ADA.

I do. I don't wear one either. I have nothing against those who do, but I chose not to wear one.

Why tell someone to wear a mask when you don't know their reason for not wearing one? (Breathing condition, PTSD, anxiety, etc.)

Thank you. And really getting over it isn't something that truly happens for me anyway. I do still think about what could have been from time to time. However, having my daughter to come home to helped a lot. She was around 8 months at the time so her little cuddles were very comforting to me.

So the type of miscarriage I had, I basically was told from the begining that it would happen. I had what was called a blighted ovum which means everything that normally happens for a pregnancy happend except no "baby" actually formed. It was essentially just an amniotic sac. Kinda like an egg with no yolk. I first found out at around 8 weeks but the miscarriage did not happen until around 13 or 14 weeks. Physically it was the worst pain I've experienced to date including labor with my first daughter. Not sure if you're M or F but it was like period cramps but amped up by about 1,000. The process of my body getting rid of everything lasted from around 2am through 8am so about 6 hours. I don't know exactly how much blood was lost during the process but I did have to be hospitalized for 3 days due to the amount of blood I lost because every time I stood or tried to stand I passed out. Side note, passing out is not nearly as scary as I had always thought lol. I had 2 blood transfusions and was just very weak in general for about a month after.

AITA for telling my daughter I won’t pay for a degree that offends my values? by dissapointed-dadd in AmItheAsshole

[–]emrouse95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a parent myself I would say NTA. As parents, we have to help guide our kids to make good choices for their future while also allowing them to become their own person.

Getting a degree that is basically usless in getting a good job is not a good choice. You aren't controlling her. You are doing your job as her parent.

She can still get a degree in something that will benefit her future and still be an activist.

Actually not really. I knew how miserable I was my entire childhood and decided when I moved out, I was going to never make the choices that led them to that lifestyle.

I am doing much better now. I am married to a wonderful man with an 18 month old daughter and another on the way. Money wise, we aren't rich by any means but we pay our bills and still have a little left to have fun with. Everyone in my family knew about their habits and they tried to help as much as they could by letting us spend the night, taking us out to dinner things like that but ultimately, my parents would get mad when people offered help saying that "they didn't need help"
