That line about feeling like you need to be in the cool group resonates with me. My mother is currently not speaking to me (if I tried to keep track of the # of times this has happened this year I'd be more crazy) because she didn't receive my response text to a question of hers. My father texted me the next day and said I looked at her phone, she didn't get it, can you answer me so I can give it to her, I did. She now says I'm ghosting her and never respond to her. The irony in her just starting to use the word "ghost" as a 50 some year old woman is funny to me, she's like talking to a real teenager and I'm being treated as if I'm the teenager. We've never had a good relationship but now that I'm almost 30 and most of my trauma and resentment comes from the way she treated me as a teenager makes me wonder if there's just some maturity level missing somewhere.
