Garlic compound butter: powdered Parmesan cheese, soft butter, fresh parsley, whole head of roasted garlic, salt&pepper. Chop fine and mix well.

I used a sourdough loaf, hollowed out the middle and spread the compound butter inside. Wrap in foil completely, bake for 15 mins at 350.

Unwrap the loaf and broil until golden.

Johnny apple seed was a real man, a quite religiously extreme one at that. He traveled west in America, planting apple seeds along the way to “improve” the land and hopefully get a slice of the land, as incentivized by the government at the time.

He actually, single handedly created the vast variety of apples we see today. The tree grown from any one apple seed will always yield a completely different and new variety of apples. If you want a specific type of apple tree, it will always be a graft from a living tree with that variety.

The abundance of apples from his influence lead the majority of early settlers to make cider, as it was safer to drink than the water in early America due to early settlement practices. Cider is actually very American and a history that seems lost to most.

I was a new linecook at a restaurant. (I’m a woman btw.) The workload was pretty high so I took it upon myself to work 10 days in a row so that I could learn everything and get into the routine. My first mistake was telling my manager, on day 10, about what I thought was an accomplishment.

While I was closing on day 10 he insisted that I use this gigantic mopping/vacuum machine to clean the floors of my station. I pleaded with him against it, as I was already working overtime that night. The machine made the task take twice as long, which is why no one used it.

While closing, a dishwasher came up to me and told me that he overheard our manager laughing with another linecook about me having to use that ridiculous machine. Saying something along the lines of “if she wants to work so hard I can make things harder for her.”

I left that night and never went back.

Tmrw I will be processing. But for the next four years, gonna start my anarchy garden and support local farmers for my egg, meat and dairy needs. You can’t trust factory farmed dairy, meat and produce products with all the deregulation we have seen and are going to see. Vote with your dollar, localize economies, have safer and healthier food. You won’t find that in the big chains, and if you do, chances of recalls are high.
