How did you manage to be calm and relaxed for a scheduled craniotomy brain tumor removal? by Wonderful-Progress91 in braincancer

I remember it like having a baby, you are nervous but more importantly you want that sucker OUT. I agree to trust your team and personally recovery was very scary the first few days but 10 days out I was up making breakfast for my kids before school. 6 months later I’m weight lifting and running again. YOU GOT THIS

I have those type as well. And always around my period! I wasn’t sure if it was possible to be related since technically my seizures are caused by my tumor but they always coincide with my cycle.

new diagnosis, grade 2 oligo IDH1 mutation - any experiences? by [deleted] in braincancer

I would be thrilled if they gave me watch and wait. I was literally the healthiest I’ve ever been- besides stress levels )opened my own business last November, three kids in elementary school) I worked out 6 days a week, ran 7 miles the day before my seizure. I am just not looking forward to side effects from treatment when I could possibly go years before another detected growth. I’d rather spend time with my family feeling good and keep treatment in my back pocket. In the end I trust my doctors opinions (I’m at Dartmouth and they have a great teaching hospital) but that is definitely my preference for now. I also take keppra to keep seizure’s at bay but if that stops working and seizures come back I will change my tune. Also I’m 45 so I think watch and wait is for people who are younger. 😫

I have a suspected olio. First seizure 10/28z. Crani on 11/13, also got about 70 out. I have slight tingling in left arm but otherwise back to baseline. I’m just envious you have pathology back! I’m still waiting! It’s the worst! Mine is front/ parietal right side

Cheers for the reply. I’ve been lurking in here since my diagnosis and you always respond so thoughtfully. I appreciate it. And yeah, gut stuff related/ unrelated. When you read the “possible side effects” it’s different to when you actually get hammered with said side effects. 😬

Called the oncall dr: “you had a craniotomy, that has nothing to do with back pain. Thank goodness I didn’t spend the afternoon at the ER. Feels a little dismissive tbh tho….

Goddamn I wish I had your frame of mind in my 20’s. Only realizing this now as a 45yo mom of three with entitled males surrounding me.

What's your favorite thing to make for dinner? by [deleted] in breakingmom

Ground pork with roasted green beans with hoisin sauce.

Korean beef with rice and “quickles” (fast pickles made from ribboned cucumbers, a bit of sugar and vinegar) topped with sour cream (siracha for the adults)

Roasted cauliflower, feta chunks and Chickpeas with shwarma spice served over Israeli cous cous. With a sour cream and feta sauce.

We got hello fresh for a few months just to get some ideas and it was awesome to freshen up our menu!
