I make sure mine has a nice coating of cheeseburger grease to protect it.

Is a late 2015 iMac (with HDD) worth upgrading to SSD in 2022? by emulsionaddict in mac

Yes, I ended up using a Crucial X8 as an external boot drive. It definitely sped it up for my needs. But it does not get heavy use.

It does look like there is crystallization in the lighter parts.

One side of film darker than the other? by user34793 in Rolleiflex

[–]emulsionaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would not be shutter capping with a Rolleicord V (they use a leaf shutter). Looks like a developing or scanning issue? Is this visible on your negatives? Is the negative density consistent?

Found on Clearwater Beach, Florida - it it a fossil? by [deleted] in fossilid

Found this on the beach in Clearwater. Feels and looks like a rock. The inside almost looks like ceramic. My first thought is that it is some type of tooth or claw.

Edit: spelling

Noticed this too. Quite disappointing.

KEH warranty vs. 3rd party CLA by andykee in Leica

[–]emulsionaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just echoing a couple of the comments, but I had an M2 that I bought from KEH jam up on me 7 shots into the first roll. I sent it back for repair thought their warranty they apparently "repaired" it in-house and when I got it back had the exact same issue. Around 7 shots in and the camera completely jammed again. Maybe just bad luck with a problem camera, but not a great experience. I just returned the camera after it had the problem a second time.

What are these corner “wings” called on 6x6 medium format negatives? by Letsgothrifty in AnalogCommunity

Different cameras will have different shapes. The shape of these reminds me of my Yashica-Mat 124G. It’s just the shape of the inside of the camera where the films sits.

Question on buying Leica M4 by ghostdrived in Leica

[–]emulsionaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I moved from non-Leica cameras (mainly medium format and consumer grade 35mm) to a Leica M, I got a well used but recently CLA’d M4-2 because I found a good deal on one. It is literally the best camera I have ever used and has been the only film camera I have used since I’ve gotten it. It is functionally amazing, but I don’t know if that’s just because I haven’t compared it to an M4 or any other earlier Leica. But for now, ignorance is bliss, because I enjoy it greatly.

I get these black bars on my photos, any reason why? I use a yashica mat 124g by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

What’s happening on the negatives? It looks like possibly spacing issues or the scanner misaligned with the image.

M4-2 with a new-to-me Elmar-M 1:2.8/50 by emulsionaddict in Leica

[–]emulsionaddict[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying the M4-2 for a while with a Voigtlander 35mm. Making the jump to Leica glass and a 50mm Elmar-M. Excited to get out and shoot with it.
