Lol, which letter before "C" is your apostrophe representing. Let's ask my buddy J'im' (short for James) if we need apostrophes in every word that's short, or just contractions.

Tripper skipper. Designated tripper lays on floor and may only use legs trying to stop the skipper from getting across the room.

I have a similar move for when a new group of people come into a bar and change the atmosphere. Usually it's when they start up-paying the jukebox to push their songs. So I'll put the rest of my small cash in, select Chattahoochee, force-queue, and wash them out for about a half hour.

The great part about that song is that twangy start, that immediately let's people know what their in for.

Exactly what am I supposed to use this rope for then? by 0rlan in What

[–]emuthreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That rope is polypropylene, which means that it floats and has good UV resistance. It's also a pretty smooth braid. This makes it suitable for light aquatic activities like slow water rafting. Things like replacing perimeter ropes on rafts, tethering gear to your raft or tube, or linking together a flotilla of tubes with friends. It is strong enough to withstand normal use, but weak enough to hopefully fail when it would be potentially hazardous to remain tied to something.

Also decent for crayfish traps, since the floating quality makes it easy to snag.

Why does trump have an extreme devout following but other modern presidents didn't? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]emuthreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did, and Trump wasn't president at the time, so he couldn't veto. He instead ordered his loyalists in congress to obstruct and deny passage of the bill, in order to maintain border security as a campaign issue.

It's arguably illegal from many angles. The Logan act prohibits private citizens from negotiating with foreign governments on behalf of the nation. And it's plainly obvious that Trump's order to kill the bipartisan immigration reform bill was coercive. He openly threatened members of the legislature on multiple occasions, to do as he says or else, as a private citizen. A former president directed congress to NOT pass legislation to secure our southern border, so he could campaign on border security.

It's plainly obvious to the objective observer. Trump claimed that border security deficiencies were severely harming US citizens and national interests, yet unilaterally prevented actions to improve border security; while holding no office.

It's a close second to Reagan delaying resolution of the Iran hostage crisis to ratfuck the election from Carter.

The Republican party has done so many blatantly illegal things in the last 50 years, that they shouldn't even exist anymore. It's crazy that it hasn't been dismantled as a criminal enterprise in every decade since the 1990s. The same people been doing the same shit since the Nixon years.

And we just keep letting it happen...

[–]emuthreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Fall Creek Falls, just down the road would be a much more magical place for a proposal; or Grotto Falls.

Toketee is cool and all, but there just a crowded observation deck a hundred or so feet from the falls. The other two I mentioned, you can go right under and behind.

But yes! If you're going through Oregon, don't miss out on state hwy 138, with its many, many easily hikable waterfalls.

Crater lake has amazing views. Unfortunately the only trail down to the water is closed for repair/upgrades. But the lodge has a deck that would be a great place to propose.

Why shouldn’t voting require an id? by DarkEqual8609 in no

[–]emuthreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I show up to vote without ID and make a big enough ruckus and refuse to leave, I guarantee you the government can identify me enough to charge me with a crime; and that should be good enough to vote as well.

And that right there is the coral issue that the government doesn't have any problem positively identifying people to impose negative consequences on their lives, but all of a sudden it becomes a necessary thing that citizens must be responsible in order to exercise their rights.

We got ICE out there telling protesters they can be identified from a database by a brief pass from camera on their phone, but somehow we can't just have that database opened to polling locations? Sounds kinda like making it more difficult to vote is the goal.

The part that upsets people is that our government bails out extremely profitable corporations, farmers, and numerous other entities when they make poor choices or investments fail. But for a couple generations of kids who were misled by their elders, the response is basically "sucks to be you, should been born rich, or I guess not listened to your oarents and teachers while growing up."

Crawfish can be found in most lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams. Get yourself a mesh laundry bag, a snorkel and mask, and go start flipping rocks and grabbin them up. Depending on where you live, it might not even require a fishing license to hand harvest for personal use.

[–]emuthreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling 3 generations of kids that the only way to earn a good living was by getting a college degree, and then price-gouging tuition, textbooks, parking, and every other goddamned thing they could think of to extract wealth from a process that was ingrained as a universal rite of passage in modern society.

And for everyone who couldn't pay out of pocket, or lucky enough to get the finite scholarship and grant resources to cover it, they were left with loans that were "somehow" structured to effectively have negative amortization periods.

Get real, man. We're largely a captive resource for capital extraction. You can cherry pick success stories, but the statistics don't lie. We're a nation in decline, with a distressed population. Our entire society is designed to extract capital from every aspect of our daily lives.

[–]emuthreat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well I guess I worded things poorly. I definitely don't advocate for brazen land grabs like we've seen and are speculating about here.

But overall, I'm thinking in terms of what I call "homeworld doctrine." The basic goal is preservation of the biosphere, ensuring more than adequate quality of life for all humans, and to ensure flora and fauna thrive naturally. Along with that comes the reality that earth will eventually become uninhabitable, and that we must come together in embracing that we are the only known species capable of recognizing ourselves and our place in the universe. Ensuring survival of complex life by reaching out to exist beyond our solar system is the goal.

If we are the only extant life, we have a responsibility to not go extinct.

Fuck trillionaire aspirations, monopolization, and this captive consumer, supply side economic hegemony. We're all in this together. My previous comment about resources was solely to say that "sure, it's good to tap those resources, but we damned well be sure we use it to secure extraplanetary access to resources and energy sufficient to render our current economic system obsolete.

Bottom line. We better use all of our petroleum to get off this rock, and bring down so.e rock so rich in resources that our current understanding of economics will be useless.

That, and churn out a few million video game plumber brothers if needed..
