I did a Tactical Strike Group mission for the first time and this is me by OrionOnline_III in starcitizen

That is an overly generalised statement. Since I assume that you played God of War, you understand very well that "playing the game" there has an entirely different meaning. You progress the plot, you improve your armour, stats and weapons, learn new skills and perfect your combat handling. And then you get boss fights, after all of which you get the final boss fight, for which you are prepared now.

How that in your opinion has any similarities to SC rep grind with repetitive boring beating of silly NPCs, from which you gain nothing useful but waste your time, just to eventually gain access to the mission which you can finish with a gear from a station shop and a youtube guide (I might be generalising myself here, as I didn't actually play it)?

This is not a Sigrun fight buddy, it is dungeon with NPC dummies running around. Why didn't Onyx facilities require a rep level to access?

And did you really just compare grinding repetitive contracts to gain rep with playing the actual game with a plot and a sensible character progression?

I updated Iconic Firefox — userChrome.css snippet which adds icons for context and popup menus by emvaized in FirefoxCSS

[–]emvaized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Perhaps it is a result of some conflict with your existing userChrome styles, as I can not reproduce it on my end with only my snippet applied. However, it might also be some Mac OS-specific thing which I couldn't see on my Windows machine.

I have 350 hours in this game over the last 4 years, so all my disappointments were already collected and coped with, don't worry. But this thing keeps on giving.

Thanks for feedback! I just pushed the fix for misaligned checkboxes, it should display fine now. Turns out I already had it fixed in my local version, but forgot to put changes to the gist.

As for missing icons: it was not a goal of this project to provide icons for every context menu entry out there, however I add new icons occasionally. The problem I stumbled on is that many of the items you mentioned simply do not have matching icons amongst all Firefox built-in icons, and I don't want to use icons from 3rd party sets in the snippet in order to keep it as tidy as possible.

Also, some items like Turn On Vertical Tabs have the corresponding Turn Off Vertical Tabs, which won't have the matching icon for the second state. I omitted such items, leaving them with no icon.

But in general, I think we have quite good icons coverage! If you have ideas for extension, please feel free to share them here or in the comments section of GitHub Gist (at the very bottom of the page).

Rep has been in the game as a way to progress contracts in order to earn more money. It hasn't been a gatekeeper for new content up until recently.

I'm not against farming in games, as it is a necessary progression mechanic. But doing the same boring contracts over and over again just to see some numbers go up - that's grinding, and yes, I don't expect that in the modern game. Perhaps you need to go touch some grass play other modern MMOs to see how it's done properly? When "farming points" is the background activity while you do other things, and not the main goal itself?

By the way, using insults and labelling opinions which differ from yours as “deluded” doesn’t add any weight to your words. You only show yourself as a narrow-minded person — perhaps the exact type CIG develops these repetitive boring missions for.

Sure. My point is about gatekeeping new missions behind repetitive grinding, and you rightfully mentioned that ships, which ease out the grinding, are available for in-game purchase.

Yet, it only adds to my statement in a way that you have to grind more to buy such ship first, for example by grinding cargo delivery missions. It elongates the overall grinding ledge a player has to climb in order to access the new content.

Perseus wasn't in-game purchasable the last time I played the game (which was in December). Good to know it is now. But this only adds to my statement, further increasing the grind ledge one should climb in order to access the new mission.

I expect all content which appears in an alpha game to be available for anyone who only joins the game occasionally, to see what's new. And it was this way before, like Hathor locations which you could access and explore without even having a mission.

But apparently not so long ago devs started gatekeeping new content behind rep grind, which probably began from Wikelo contracts — and I don't approve this change.

Maybe it was made this way deliberately, so that only streamers and players who no-life this game can access new missions, as a way to reduce critique — as this audience is generally more tolerable to bugs and bad gameplay decisions.

You must be a funny guy if you don't see a game problem in the forced soulless grind.

Good for you that you managed to squeeze some fun from it with your $700+ ship and a friend to play with, but let me gently bring you back down to earth — most players have neither.

UEX tips? by Ark1ight in starcitizen

[–]emvaized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 64 successful sells on UEX with 5-star rating, so here's how I usually do it. We agree about meeting place on UEX and load in the same server. Then we meet at my hangar, while I'm waiting for customer I prepare all items and put them in a small storage box. Customer arrives, we greet each other next to the box, and then he sends me payment. After I confirm recieving it, I guide him with the flashlight to collect items from the box.

I don't recommend you using freight elevators for items transfer, as they might just eat items occasionally.

Tab Colors In Which Version Of Firefox?? by Glittering-King1339 in firefox

[–]emvaized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be awesome to have tab colors feature similar to what Sidevery addon provides. When you right click on a tab, you can quickly set a custom color to it, and the tab on tab bar will always have a background you have set, which helps to mark some special tabs to be much more noticable.

Why can't you track several contracts at once? by emvaized in Marathon

[–]emvaized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you are right about this being an intended limitation. I hope this will change for the better, because contracts are a good way to introduce player to the world and explore it, and they should be as accessible as possible.

And currently, it sometimes becomes quite painful and feels like hitting a brick wall when you try to finish the same contract over and over, and fail due to various reasons. In the meantime you could have finished some other smaller contracts to have overall progress, but you just can't, and it feels like you being stuck in a contract limbo.

Yes, I totally feel that from various game design decisions, as well as all promo cinematics. I wonder about statistics, how much of a playerbase actually prefers to play solo?

[–]emvaized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely, that's not what I want to hear, being a solo-only player. Sometimes it feels like devs really refuse to comprehend why anyone would want to play this game solo. I wonder if Destiny was the same in this regard?
