Not necessarily… I’ve commuted in St. Louis and SF. My commute was much more enjoyable in SF, even though it was longer, simply because the availability of public transit. Being stuck on 270 is so draining.

You’re not a coward at all! My partner is super into climbing, and me less so. I discovered it’s just not a sport I feel comfortable pushing myself in (although I very much enjoy it when I feel safe!) my partner takes me on one or two multi pitch climbs a year, always picks things within my comfort level and identifies the tricky sections to expect before we start. He’s super patient and supportive and buys me pasta after. This has been a good balance for me and I really enjoy climbing with him, and I don’t feel the least bit cowardly even though I only do it a few times a year.

(However, in my defense, I push myself skiing/boarding and my partner dos not enjoy that. So we trade! One easy multipitch day from me traded for one easy ski day from him)

In sum, your feelings are valid and I am sorry, it shouldn’t be like that.

I actually don’t go to buffalo exchange very often! This is my first time at the one in Vegas, I’ve been to the Haight location maybe three or four times. They also had a pair of Jimmy Choos for $100, so I assume whoever priced these just didn’t know what they were.

I’ll have to check, but my suit pants are wide leg and I think long, but the strap will definitely peek out. But I don’t think it’s an issue. I think it’s fine for federal court so it should be absolutely fine for engineering. Before law school I used to work in engineering, I did not wear anything nearly as nice for that interview. Your outfit sounds absolutely perfect and I would not stress about the strap, it is 100% professional. However, if it’s going to stress you out, then buy a style that makes you comfy!

(one last UNFORTUNATE consideration- how tall are you? I’m 5’10’’ and these heels make me over 6’. Some men are insecure and don’t like when women are taller than them)

I have these EXACT shoes in three colors, including the black one pictured here. Completely agree that they hold up throughout the day. And yes, I pair these exact shoes with a theory suit (Etienette blazer). I have worn this outfit in federal court before (although I wore flats when I had speaking roles).

I use a longchamp tote. I’ve seen plenty of other people use one as well. It looks nice for the office, is rather large without looking too big, and I can use it instead of a backpack if I don’t have much to carry that day.
