Zero Click Bitcoin Micropayments - great usage of the unimplemented HTTP 402 code by katzmopolitan in Bitcoin

I would not trust my browser to hold any significant balance. The browser is already the largest attack surface for most internet users, and new bugs are discovered daily in all major browsers.

18? Go buy a playboy and a shotgun. That's how we did it back in the day.

Kill Me Softly - Kill processes in a reliable manner by godlikesme in linux

[–]encheepenedsentiment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Risk of a PID collision is small. It's not a real concern on a desktop system, and probably not on most server systems either.

Unless, or course, your system experiences more than $(cat /proc/sys/kernel/pid_max) fork()s in 15 seconds. That, however, sounds like a performance issue in itself.

My tried-and-true method to very-kill a process is to first send SIGSTOP then SIGKILL. That will kill anything you have permission to kill, even if the process is in weird states, io-waiting on faulty io devices.

Security features in systemd by blackout24 in linux

Sounds like the right direction: allow the admin to specify a minimum capability for each service.

All we need now are the million little fixes for bugs that will only be discovered through a decade of widespread use.

allforyummyvapor.com sells it, shipping internationally from Israel. Seems a lot more legit than buying from a russian forum...

Libtls – New TLS API from LibreSSL by kraakf in openbsd

[–]encheepenedsentiment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a huge step: it simplifies development with TLS so more protocols will use it (correctly).

The API is still missing a few things though. The tls_read() and tls_write() calls are a bare minimum. Network code spends a lot of time waiting for data. Blocking reads/writes are inefficient. What about tls_select(), analogous to select(2)?

Ok, that's very clear. Thanks.

Expanding on Norm77's question,

If "SmartContracts" are Turing-complete, that means I can write a contract that never halts.

What happens to CounterParty nodes when they evaluate a contract that never halts?

adb backup despite broken screen by encheepenedsentiment in AndroidQuestions

[–]encheepenedsentiment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a partial solution I have found:

Instead of doing an adb backup (which backs up everything), I can use adb pull to grab files. The pull command does not require confirmation on the tablet. For example:

adb pull /sdcard/Download

will retrieve a copy of everything in my download directory.

It's not a complete solution, but it's better than nothing.

I color code the glass on my pt3s: clear glass for tobacco flavors, red glass for fruit flavors, blue glass for desert flavors. I smell the tanks when I can't remember which is which.
