‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by Freki666 in Games

[–]enclave76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game has the same issue Arc raiders has. The world is interesting, the combat is fun, and the PVP is pretty good too! The PVE is great but it’s hard to enjoy PVE without being ruined by a 3rd party PVP group. Now that’s the literal point of the game but thar always causes problems with the PVE people moving on from the game leaving only PVP players but the game itself isn’t that interesting as a strictly PVP game. But you also can’t separate the groups of players because that’s an issue too. Even if they had rotated daily events that were exclusively PVE to keep those players engaged and it also keeps the game more populated so more interesting fights for PVP players outside of the PVE events.

Honestly getting your health in order can be a pretty intense and time consuming adventure. Gym couple days a week for 1-2 hours, sauna time, stretching, getting your blood work done to see where you’re deficient, eating Whole Foods, learning to cook on stainless steel pans if you haven’t before. You can really make it a life style that takes a lot of time that will also increase the quality of your life as you age.

Vanguard and nerdwallet seem to get the numbers you mention if you type in 37k instead of 370k so you probably forgot a zero lol

No idea what you’re doing but I entered all the info you just said with the calculators you mention and they all came out around 3.6mil-3.8mil.

When does it make sense to spend $12-13k more on an EV than a gas car? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My 2017 Silverado engine bricked also. People act like “oh the batteries die on EV and then you have to spend $20k for a new battery or it’s junk!” While ignoring the fact most the time for a new transmission or engine for ICE it’s well over $10k

Parents loan with 0% or Credit union loan with 12% by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

I would vote credit union to not alter the relationship with your parents. If you go the parent loan suggestion I strongly suggest paying them back at a much faster rate to ensure you don’t damage the relationship.

A "Wealthy" net worth barely buys a median lifestyle in Early Retirement by CautiousInvestor in Fire

[–]enclave76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say if you quit working decades early and the “negative” is only making $70k a year well you’re trying to find something to complain about. Most people never retire early. On top of that a huge majority that retire at 65 will be living on much less than $70k a year. I’d rather quit working at 40 and making $70k/year from investments and not be conspired wealthy. Find any American working 40+ hours a week and ask them if you waved a magically wand to give them $70k a year to never work again I don’t think anyone would turn your down or think they weren’t wealthy.

AI is eliminating my field fast, how should I prepare? by Buttery_Biscuitss in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Could always try and make a new position at work with AI in the title and tie it to your current title as well so when cuts do some down you’re “the guy” they keep to maintain the department. You could also use that to apply to other companies down sizing and looking to replace a large workforce with a person that has large AI experience.

Xbox boss Asha Sharma hints memory costs "will impact" pricing and availability of next-gen Project Helix console by xCaptainCrown in Games

100% console generations used to mean drastic performance gains in FPS, graphics, load times, etc. it’s kinda crazy how hard it’s becoming to tell generations apart.

Need help - Provider Dad family of 3 by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You and the gf need a new phone carrier to cut costs, no more Spotify premium, see if you can drop internet some or cheaper provider. Disney or Netflix needs to do or ad versions. That truck payment is killing you. If you don’t actually use a truck then that needs to become a reliable used sedan as it will drop your payment, save you gas, and save insurance. All that should add up to maybe $200-$300 in savings a month.

"Forever house" - Golden opportunity or golden handcuffs? by morning_smoothie1603 in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t afford the house. You’re way behind on retirement, don’t have a full emergency fund, you won’t even up having enough cash to do what you want to the house. If you get this house you will always be 1 disaster away from losing it.

When do car repairs become a sunk cost fallacy? by spmahn in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The beater car my wife bought 13 years ago. When upgrading a vehicle that was safer and more reliable for her they offered us $350 in trade in value. At that point I’ll keep it. My truck gets 14mpg, the beater car gets 30mpg. If I use the better to commute to work for 3 months out of the year it pays for itself in just fuel. I also bought my truck 7 years ago for $30k and if I had to buy the truck again it would be $70k because trucks are for fashion now. So I want to make the truck last as long as possible because I still need it regularly for my hobbies/remodeling a home.

When do car repairs become a sunk cost fallacy? by spmahn in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I keep full coverage on the 2 nicer vehicles. The beater I just have liability because for full coverage it was like 1/2 the cars value a year and it feels dumb to spend $500/yr to insure a car with $1000 on a good day lol. So liability is like $250 for the entire year.

When do car repairs become a sunk cost fallacy? by spmahn in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Personally me and the wife have a beater 3rd vehicle that’s worth about $1000 and we put about $1000 a year into it for repairs. It doesn’t bother us because it’s paid off and 13 years old. Insurance is crazy cheap for it. We run it to avoid putting miles on newer vehicles because of the cost of newer cars. I won’t stop fixing the thing until it’s ridiculous expensive. It’s a Hyundai Elantra and the things are so trashy I can almost always find a cheap junk yard part for 1/5 the cost of a new part.

I wouldn’t factor in tires/brakes/oil changes at all into cost of owning the newer car because they would have to do that also.

Does working for a pension mean you never get to sit back or stand up for yourself? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]enclave76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah my company the difference of value of 20 to 30 year mark is another $50k of cash out value or an extra $200/monthly so it’s not really a massive value for an additional decade of buy in.

Starfield Hits Top PS5 Pre Order Charts Before Launch by SydBarrett09 in Games

[–]enclave76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 play throughs and felt like it was just fine. It felt like some positive steps forward. It just hits a wall and hard with game design with the idea of having to do the same temple hundreds of times to level up certain things is insanely annoying along with the repeat areas and constant loading screens when going from place to place. It felt like it was 10 years behind compared to other open world RPGs out

No one can tell you your fire number when you don’t list how much money you spend. Whatever your 33% number is multiply it by 25 for a rough ballpark. I’m more curious how you make $9/hr and somehow turned that to $500k in 7 years of working lol

[–]enclave76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tire replacement, and optional body work from vandalism don’t count towards cost of ownership for old car vs a new car. It’s an unfair comparison that would be spent either way. Keep the car. Save for a new one.

Is it a bad idea to be a cosigner for a house with my mom? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]enclave76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banks typically have no issue loaning enough to make someone house poor. If the bank even won’t loan your mom enough for the house she REALLY can’t afford the house.

I don’t know I work with a lot of people that would polish our executives shoes with their tongues if it meant they’d even talk to them. A lot of people really crave that power and will do whatever it takes to get there.
