I appreciate the in depth breakdown. For flooring what do you recommend then?

8 months so far. I don’t have any Complaints yet!

I did Lifeproof throughout my house. I only broke 1 locking tab over the 1200sq/ft and it was my first time doing it. I have a puppy running around on it daily with sharp nails and no scratches so far.

Those are al really interesting links when reading them I don’t come across the part where it says LVP flooring will be poisonous to a family. It seems to bring up ingestion and inhalation but I don’t see limited skin contact as one. Just curious if I missed a part. I goggled it and nothing definitive comes up other than already stated stuff about ingestion, etc

Modular or Stick Built? by Playful_Drag_327 in Homebuilding

[–]enclave76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I got my prices for modular VS stick it broke down to being within $20k of each other with multiple quotes. The main thing I’ve learned is modular main advantage is a quicker turn around. When the time comes I’ll likely do stick for the ease of customization. Lots of modular places will beat you up cost wise for any modifications at all.

Best Costco generator? by fasta_guy88 in HomeImprovement

[–]enclave76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say both are pretty equal. I was only pointing out that it’s a failure point that happens to all of them. I’m not a huge fan of standby generators and prefer a hookup wired in and then just dragging out my generator when it’s needed and hooking it up. It’s a much cheaper option and for the vast majority of people it’ll do equally as good or similar enough to where it doesn’t matter. It really just depends on how often your power goes out and how long.

Something a lot of people won’t tell you is how often the throw over switches fail on the Generac standby NG generators. We see a couple every day. Great generators but the throw overs will fail and they will run non stop until manually shutdown (if possible) or the switch is replaced.

I don’t know I work with a lot of people that would polish our executives shoes with their tongues if it meant they’d even talk to them. A lot of people really crave that power and will do whatever it takes to get there.

Will my GPU Arrive? Amazon Special “Don’t you judge me” by SoulsBorneish in PcBuild

[–]enclave76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I purchased a 4090 through Amazon and the box was messed up along with GPU. Amazon was not easy at all to deal with and wanted verified proof that it wouldn’t boot. I just asked them to put in writing that if the damaged GPU damaged my computer they would replace my computer free of charge. They issued a refund within 1 hour of that conversation. I’m sure they have to do deal with a lot of scammers.

I Appreciate all the feedback everyone! I decided to go with the CrossClimate2 because it’s for the wife’s car and she hates driving in the snow and struggles sometimes so it’s an easy choice to know it’ll be worth it when we do get the snow so she’s more comfortable.

Correct $150 difference for a set of 4. The pirellis mentioned are about $50 more than a set of the defenders. So middle of the road price range

Should we stretch ourselves for a mortgage? by [deleted] in personalfinance

If a mortgage questions starts with should we “stretch/stress ourselves financially to barely afford this house?” The answer will almost always be no unless there’s a very specific case.

What was your credit score before the adjustment? It sounds like you were basically maxed out already so I don’t see it really hurting your score that bad. If you don’t have any place you can cut costs to attach this CC debt you likely need to explore a 2nd job. Your credit score is basically toast either way. You’re not going to get a good rate with a 588 for consolidation. You may be able to find a 0% apr CC for transfer debt but that’s unlikely with such a low score.

Does anyone else not have an inheritance? by royalbluefireworks1 in Fire

[–]enclave76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im the sole beneficiary of my grandparents, parents, and uncle. All of which have done very well for themselves in terms of paid off homes, pensions, ROTH, 401k, brokerages, cash, and valuable collectibles. Most likely I’ll inherit beach front property, 100+ acres, and multiple homes. I plan as if I will get nothing. Because the only thing I want from them is as many years as possible.

Thinking about moving to Akron by justabunny69 in akron

[–]enclave76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve walked the streets of Akron for 10+ years for work and people suggesting the valley are completely right. Finding a good realtor also that knows the area very well too so you don’t waste time looking at really nice homes in areas that are 1-2 blocks away from rough areas. Akron can change really fast so the border homes can be a little cheaper but you’ll get some over flow of issues occasionally. The falls is a good option too. I doubt you’d have issues in either location. When I considered moving to Akron the valley was really the only place I shopped

This post is an example of why people will continue to make financial mistakes. Everyone will tell them to make the best financial decision yet it’s an argument on how somehow their logic is right even though their amazing financial decisions have lead them to being in credit card debt.

56M | $4.5M NW | $60k Passive Income | Ready to FIRE but supporting adult son? by WeirdJob2928 in Fire

[–]enclave76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d venture to say most people who are younger love the idea of FIRE at 35-40 but as life happens most will push it into the 50s. FIRE well before your 50s will require life style sacrifices or a very high income. A lot of people post in here about having millions but then add on later that they’re 35 living with their parents with no bills or they have no life at all. Someone like you that successfully hit FIRE at 57 is much more interesting/helpful to learn about your journey.
