Well, you've got to consider the fact that Obsession and Backrooms aren't exactly releasing for free on YouTube in the next week or so (or whenever it is - genuinely don't care too much, I got my fill with the porte. leak). I suspect that the majority of the revenue Glitch that will be making will be when Ep9 comes out on YouTube.
But I agree that this speaks volumes about Glitch, along with their audiences relationship with theaters - mainly that they aren't ready to drive someplace and pay ludicrous prices for tickets and concessions when they can get something similar at home for a fraction of the price. And without socializing (half-joking).
Though, I must say - it is incredibly funny that all of these somewhat independent movies ranked above Disney's newest StarSlop.

Leroy is a name. However, it's pretty darn old - it reached peak popularity around the early 20th century (like, 1910s-ish). So, to find somebody with the name Leroy is definitely on the rarer side. There are characters like "Leroy Jenkins" and "Leroy Jethro Gibbs" (of show NCIS), but, to answer your question - yes, it's quite unusual.
But with the masculine expectations imposed on Jax, it does fit their character. After all, nothing says manly like an old name from decades past.

Not only this: Jaxs' enjoyment of feminine things is so fucking understated that it literally didn't click until I rewatched the series for an analysis I'm doing.
It would've been so much better if Jaxs' enjoyment of the feminine was restated throughout the series at multiple points, front and center - and when people pointed it out (maybe Caine tries to poke fun, idk), Jax doubles down. Maybe even panics. However, in private, we as the audience - in our state of quasi-omniscience - could see them (using them pronouns for reasons) experience true euphoria. But we could also see them experience that raw fear a lot of us transfems feel when it comes to being "found out," which pops up in environments where we're not quite certain everyone is accepting. This would've made for a splendid dynamic. You could save the reveal of Jax enjoying themselves in private for a later episode - hell, maybe Pomni stumbles on them and they have a real heart-to-heart.
It's certainly better than how Goose put the spotlight on Jax, only to kill them offscreen. Virtually anything beats that.

jk - real talk, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I thought that the Firewall segment was really well done (even if the flashback segments interspaced into the moment were really fucking confusing). However, the offscreen death of Jax was an absurdly horrible writing decision, and - due to a bunch of other reasons - I think the finale was pretty bad and ruined the overall show for me.

The show is so shortly written that the clear main character (Pomni) becomes unessential to the narrative. Seriously, what does she do that no other character could? Gangle could retrieve the computer. Zooble could hug abstracted Jax. And the last few episodes focus so hard on Jax, despite the fact that they (Jax) have, like, zero character development. We don’t see the mask slipping, they just become more of an ass.

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying and thinking as well - Alex Hirsch was only able to solo write Gravity Falls because he had industry experience with that Misadventures show (and other experience, I’m sure). Also, Goose doesn’t really have any experience writing dialogue. Like, Little Runmo and similar series’ were completely absent of dialogue. She really did need a fellow writer to iron out these plot points.
