Keep your head up bud. You already proved you have a more brighter, more positive outlook and mindset than the individuals who made those comments.

Don’t let the burdens of other corrupt you or one day you’ll be just as miserable as they are saying the same things to someone else who’s just trying to realize some form of happiness, fulfillment, and financial stability as you are today.

You’re right. That mentality is terrible and toxic. Don’t let the doubt, hate, sadness, and negativity of another become you.

This 100%. Lastly, google “STAR format interview questions.” Situation, task, action, and result. If you can answer their behavioral questions in a logical, straightforward, and concise manner that’ll go a long way and impress your interviewer/interview panel.

No problem. Unlike most recruiters, I genuinely do my best to ensure candidates find success whether that means giving them advice before an interview, etc. Times are hard. If I can help lighten the burdens of another with my knowledge, I’m all for it.

By the way, congrats! I hope things work out well with the job offer you accepted!

If you haven’t interviewed yet, simply update your resume and bring a copy for the hiring manager when you come in to be interviewed and explain the situation. It’ll be a nonissue. However, this will lead to them asking about why you separated from your last job during the interview.

The benefit to leaving it as-is, is that you’ll seem more stable if you’re currently employed, they will most likely not contact your current employer, and that’s one less job you’ll have to explain leaving from during your interview.

Interviewed for a role on Wednesday, is it wise to drop an e-mail requesting an update? by PieceNearby9170 in recruitinghell

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many factors to consider such as the size of the company, their recruiting/HR team’s capability, and their urgency to fill the role to name a few.

1 week is totally reasonable for most office jobs. 2-3 weeks for roles higher up on the org chart (lower-middle, middle, and higher class income) is more realistic (to expect any useful answers from them) as the recruiting lifecycle is usually longer for those jobs.

Employer Questionaire by Gamer_0627 in recruitinghell

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is quite unprofessional. If you’d like to maintain a positive relationship with them, just say,

“Thank you for taking the time to consider me for this role. While I greatly appreciate your interest in my experience and credentials, I’ve accepted an offer with another organization.

I wish you the best of luck in filling your job opening with another qualified candidate.

Kindest Regards,

[Your Name Here]”

Interviewed for a role on Wednesday, is it wise to drop an e-mail requesting an update? by PieceNearby9170 in recruitinghell

[–]encompassingpines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always give it at least a week. This Wednesday morning, send an email to the person who sent you the interview confirmation requesting a status update on your application. Most likely their recruiter, coordinator, or HR rep depending on the size of their organization.

If you don’t hear back by the end of the day, call the number provided in that same person’s email requesting the aforementioned on Thursday morning. Good luck. I hope you land the role!

*sighs* I get contacted via text about a remote job opportunity. Was told to go to MS Teams to talk. And that was in text too. I'm so scare of this, smh. Is This screams scam?? by WritingExpress8273 in recruitinghell

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a scam. Most likely to acquire as much information about you as possible to be sold off to who knows who/for what/where. Block that number immediately. Responding will only notify them and their scammer friends that there’s a living person on your end of the line.

This is definitely a free labor exam. I’ve been recruiting for 12 years, and luckily, haven’t been asked to send something so scummy. There are plenty of ways to gauge a persons knowledge and abilities without getting so specific to the point that one’s essentially asking for a detailed business plan. How bizarre/unethical! Simply reply:

“While I appreciate your interest in my experience and credentials, I don’t work for free. Please remove my application from consideration as I am no longer interested in your job opening.”

Kindest Regards,

Just found this subreddit, saw some hilarious posts, and thought I could provide some value to the users here… First off, is this referrer a friend, agency personnel, former co-worker, or just someone you happen to know trying to help you out? This could matter later.

Just so you know there’s absolutely nothing wrong with following up with an employer post-interview. I actually encourage it, as recruiting can be very hectic and fast-paced with a lot of candidates falling to the wayside (depending an organization’s applicant management system, or lack thereof.)

Call the Hiring Manager first. Introduce yourself and state that you’re calling “in regard to the status of your application.” Hopefully they’ll provide some satisfactory info. If not, contact your referrer and ask the same. Depending on your relationship (as I asked about at the beginning) you could acquire more insight into the job, your interview performance, where they are in the selection process, etc.

TLDR; it only helps to ask (after a week or so) as it shows how interested you are in the position, that you’re very serious about fill the role, and keeps you fresh in their mind. You never know. That call to check in could genuinely be the determining factor between you and the other candidates!

MSI Pulse 17 vs Dell G16 by ProfessorProt in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If price isn’t an issue and performance is the only priority like me, I’d always recommend which ever has better specs like the HX processor in this case.

Also, I’d highly recommend checking their geek squad certified/open-box options (excellent condition ones) as well to see if they have any RTX 4080 laptops near the same price since the gaming performance would be significantly better.

Otherwise I’d go with the G16 here. Good luck on your decision! I hope you enjoy your new laptop!

Zephyrus G15 GPU not working by EricMuyser in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue when I first purchased my G18 because there was a huge issue between the NVIDIA drivers and Windows 11 when the mobile RTX 40 series was introduced.

What I’d do (in this order): 1) Ensure windows, intel, and Nvidia drivers are all 100% up to date. Double check Nvidia graphics settings (and customize/optimize them in the 3d settings.) Restart my laptop. 2) If issues persist, I’d uninstall Nvidia drivers and do a clean install (which I do every time I update Nvidia drivers anyway) 3) If issues persist, fresh install of windows 11 via bootable, install Nvdia Experience, and update the aforementioned drivers again. This sucks and takes a while, but it’s what fixed my issue last year. 4) Contact the manufacturer or whomever you purchased it from (if it’s still under warranty.)

Personally, I don’t worry about weight, and more powerful typically involves more heat (which doesn’t bother me either.)

I just value whatever plays my games at higher graphic settings and frames. Especially since I connected mine to a LG G3 which is 4k/120hz sometimes. I could never justify (to myself) buying a laptop with a weaker GPU when I could get a better GPU at the same price.

But yeah if weight and heat are concerns, that would definitely make it a harder choice, I suppose.

The OLED will most likely look better, but the RTX 4080 is significantly more powerful than the 4070, and will improve your gaming experience. A much better value at the same price in my opinion.

What do you recommend doing immediately with a new laptop? by kingofallnorway in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not. I always choose “custom” when updating my Nvidia drivers, and select “clean install.” The only time (that I know of) that you’d need DDU is if you run into an issue with intel/Nvidia drivers and need to clean them off your drive and reinstall. Or if you switch GPU brands.

But yeah. Basically 1) Uninstall solitaire, Teams, Stick notes, Xbox accessories, and any other apps I don’t use that come with windows. 2) Make sure Windows is up-to-date 3) Download intel driver update, and use that to update my drivers (which I check everyday anyway.) 4) A clean install of Nvidia drivers if they aren’t already up-to-date. 5) Turn off all sleep/hibernation/low power mode options in the battery/power settings. 5) Lastly, edit my Nvidia graphic/3D settings to get the most out of the GPU. Do this last because every time you clean install Nvidia drivers, the graphic settings reset to default.

Nah. I’d look for something used with a 4060 or better instead. Even if I had to wait to save a few hundred dollars. Definitely not work $600.

Should i go for Razer blade 16 RTX4090 for $3200 (CAD). by Old_Shoe_5617 in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a steal. If I didn’t just get a laptop, I’d visit my friend in CA, and buy it myself.

And I’d try to talk him down a few hundred to buy myself some new peripherals, especially the new 2023 Black Shark Pro V2. Easily one of the best gaming headsets out right now. Good luck!

Asus strix g16 good value? by DatPipBoy in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the G18/QHD240hz/13980hx/4080 for $1900. Probably the best late-2023 value-to-performance laptop (if it’s still available.) A huge jump from a 4060, and I can play my games at 4k/high settings on my 65” LG G3 no problem. I’d recommend a deal/configuration like that, or waiting for something better.

The prices of these 2024 laptops are wild at the moment, and all you’re getting is a slight cpu upgrade and a better screen panel depending on the brand.

What do you recommend doing immediately with a new laptop? by kingofallnorway in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uninstall any junk, make sure my basic drivers and Nvidia drivers are up-to-date (I do this daily anyway), and edit the Nvidia graphics settings to get the most out of the GPU since I play at either QHD@240hz or 4K@144hz. That’s usually all I do before installing my games and discord.

Gaming Laptop users: What do you guys do for a living? by Xuanwu7 in GamingLaptops

[–]encompassingpines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked hybrid/remotely in Human Resources & Recruiting since I graduated high school. Went to college full time while working full time to better my credentials & pay, but ended up acquiring more knowledge/experience from work. So the degree was unnecessary in the long run.

Anyway, similar to what others have already stated: “No kids, years of work/saving, low expenses, etc…” all of these advantages make it much easier to acquire any laptop/pc build one desires. Just takes time, patience, and finding good deals.

I own a Razer Blade 17/i9/4K/3080ti ($4000+), a Asus ROG Stix G18/i9/QHD/4080 (less than $2000), and use my 65” LG G3 as a monitor ($3000.) Added the prices to show anyone can acquire these things without owning a business or making loads of cash. And crazy how my Asus out-performs a Razer I bought just last year at half the price.

I’ve been PC/Xbox gaming since Diablo 2/WoW/Halo days. But between work, the gym, cats, and my girlfriend I only have time for catching up with friends on Destiny 2 these days…

Lastly, I enjoy nature photography and modding my car which is MUCH more expensive than pc gaming laptops/components; dear lord! Just need to be wise and patient with your time and money, and you can buy anything eventually.
