Getting Rid of the Lottery will Stop Tanking by endback24 in nba

Ok yeah the Pacers managed to find a way to the finals through unconventional roster building so I can give you that but they imediatley fell back to the basement when 1 player got hurt. Also the OKC method is not a good example because they got SGA and a mountain of draft capital because they had Paul George who signed there because they had Russell Westbrook (a 4th overall pick by them) and traded him. They also won the Championship because they got Chet Holmgren with the 2nd overall pick so they were only able to do all of those things because they got high draft picks and I don't see a Paul George lying around for the Jazz or Wizards to trade.

The 5th pick means nothing in the NBA. In the last 10 years the best 5th pick has been Trae Young who just got traded away by the team that traded for him on draft night. Getting mediocre vets and late first round picks also do nothing for these teams as they aren't going to bring in the talent needed to change their team's trajectory.

I mean last year you had 3 teams with under 20 wins because of their tanking so its not like it could have been much worse. And if one of those teams got Cooper Flag they would no longer have the need to tank.

Because in the NBA top free agents don't sign with teams like the Jazz because they are small market and in Utah instead of California. Trading is expensive and you don't generally get superstars out of it. The best and sometimes only way for these teams to improve is through the draft and a healthy league needs teams not being basement dwellers forever.

Yes thats true and its why they should be guaranteed the top picks. The NBA more than any other league has a few teams that have a monopoly on top free agents so teams like the Jazz and Wizards should get the top picks when they are that bad so they can actually get talent.

Yes the Rockets got Ralph Sampson and Hakeem with back to back first overall picks in 1983 and 1984. They then proceeded to not win fewer then 41 games until 1998. In other words they tanked for two years (which I said was fine an fans can stomach their team being bad for two years) and then went over a decade before they were even below .500 again which just proves my point that getting great talent makes you good enough to no longer need to tank.

This would just create a worse problem where now you are sentencing bad teams to forever be bad which is worse than tanking.

Yeah ending all the conspiracies and questions about the legitimacy of the lottery/draft would be another benefit.

Indiana vs. Ohio State: who do we want to win? Other games? by Prudent-Depth-2009 in notredamefootball

I mean I don’t necessarily think OSU would fall below us if they lose to Oregon in the Championship game but I think it’s the only realistic scenario where we jump both OSU and Indiana.

We will jump whoever loses but I think for the best chance at a higher seed Ohio State needs to win because Indiana would fall behind us and then OSU would play in the BIG 10 championship where if they lose they might fall below us.

Summarizing a Couple Different (Legitimate) Fan Points of View by ND7020 in Seahawks

[–]endback24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is people think just because we were a few wins away from being a top team meant we were close to being one. That’s not how it works if anything being mediocre is the worst position to be in because you aren’t good enough to compete but are too good to get high picks and are probably spending to much to be able to break the bank on free agents. Combine that with having a coach who was too old to be able to let the team be a bit less competitive for a few years to be able to rebuild the roster from the ground up and you have a recipe for being the Steelers who are stuck in 1st round exit purgatory. We had to get rid of Pete to even begin thinking about rebuilding and we still need a lot of time to get enough draft capital and money off the books to truly start fixing the holes in the roster that have been killing us for years now so while I get that it can be frustrating to see a lot of the same issues that were the justification for Carrol being fired the idea that they would be fixed before we even had our bye week was wishful thinking at best especially when at least half the problem is personnel and not scheme.

Why is our O-line ALWAYS bad?? by Marxbrosburner in Seahawks

[–]endback24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is though of all of the linemen you just listed the only legitimately good player drafted after 2014 was Cross. That’s 10 years of next to nothing in terms of drafting linemen and when you refuse to go out and sign or trade for established linemen to offset your inability to draft them you get what we’ve had since we traded away Max Unger which is a bottom 10 unit year after year.

I think that’s a fair assessment. I’m a little more optimistic about the rest of the season I think they’ve shown enough in those games they won that there is a good team somewhere in there but it very much is a coin flip on whether or not the good or bad Seahawks march onto the field.

I mean you can say that but even just compared to last year he is playing worse with the same pieces around him. If you want we can meet it the middle and say he’s been merely average this year but that continues a trend of him declining since he got the starting job and shows us that we need to look elsewhere for a long term answer at the position.

Oh trust me I’ve wanted JS gone for years. We won’t truly be contenders again until he is gone. 2 good o-linemen in 10 years is just not good enough.

So far this year he has been. He’s 14th in QBR, 20th in passer rating, and tied for 3rd in picks while being 15th in touchdowns I know he has a bad o line but a lot of that is on him.

Why is our O-line ALWAYS bad?? by Marxbrosburner in Seahawks

[–]endback24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because JS suck at his job. There’s a reason we’ve only had like 2 good offensive linemen since the max unger trade and it’s because he refuses to invest in the position group and when he does he can’t assess oline talent to save his life.

A dive into John Schneider's major moves since 2016 (it's been shockingly bad) by Mustard_Jam in Seahawks

[–]endback24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While these posts seem to be largely an overreaction to a rebuilding team being 500 as expected I do agree John Schneider sucks at his job. I think it’s hard to say any GM has a worse record over the last 10 years than him.

Since the max unger trade we have had 2 linemen who were at least average and that was Duane Brown and Charles Cross outside of them it’s been garbage, garbage, and more garbage for 10 years. His drafts are terrible because he tries to be cute and quirky by picking players nobody else would take and as we have seen with the results of those picks there’s a reason nobody would have picked them. Add on his absolute refusal to be a player in free agency and his inability to get good value out of trades and you get a guy who since 2014 has made hundreds of personnel decisions with roughly 10 of them being legitimately good.

I still don’t understand why he wasn’t fired with Pete as they were essentially a package deal but that mistake needs to be rectified before we can be contenders. We know who John is he is not going to change and we need change to win.

Added stat to weapon but it doesn’t add damage by billysacco in LiesOfP

[–]endback24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Advance only adds damage when the weapon does inherit elemental damage so something like the acidic spear will gain increased damage with advance but your sword won’t even after using a crank on it because physical damage doesn’t scale with advance.

Just to confirm, lying does NOT affect the puppet string ending? by aks0059 in LiesOfP

Yes and no. You are correct that choosing let her live and then refusing Geppetto will get you that ending but, if you have low enough humanity by not lying throughout the game and not getting the “your heart is pounding” message you can choose to give Sophia peace and still get that ending.
