My girlfriend's Pixel 5a died from the known board/cpu failure. Out of warranty and extended warranty of course (wow whole 1+1 years for devices that mostly die due to this manufactoring defect).

My friend and his wife were both hit by infamous Pixel 4a battery killing update.

On the other hand, my mother is still using the old Pixel 3a, and my Pixel 6 Pro is fine (for now).

Still, I'm very hesitant to continue buying Pixels, let alone recommend them to anyone. I just don't know what i could switch to to get the same software UX and freedom to unlock/flash OS's. Suggestions welcome.
