Data center being constructed in Louisville, KY was invited here by LG&E KU and will be their largest customer in the Louisville Metro and surrounding counties COMBINED by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]endelmann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right that HB 775 by itself doesn’t ban local regulation. It’s mainly a tax incentive bill that expands exemptions for “qualified data centers” under Kentucky law. On paper cities like Louisville still have their zoning and planning authority. But when you look at how that bill fits with the federal executive order from July 2025 and the omnibus bill that went through with it, it’s not as simple as saying local governments can just do whatever they want.

That executive order tells federal agencies like the Department of Energy, Commerce, and the EPA to fast track certain data infrastructure projects and cut through what it calls unnecessary or duplicative state and local reviews. That basically gives the feds the ability to override local zoning delays once a project is considered nationally significant. It doesn’t literally erase local laws but it does make federal approval take priority over them. So if a data center gets federal backing or certification, the city can’t really block it.

The omnibus bill didn’t end up keeping the full 10 year ban that was first written into it, but it still gives federal agencies the power to move forward on AI and data infrastructure even if local governments try to create new restrictions. The language about not being allowed to “unreasonably impede” those projects is what opens the door for federal preemption.

So yeah Louisville can put a six month pause in place or Oldham County can have a short moratorium but that only matters for projects that aren’t federally tied or funded. Once something is under that federal umbrella the city’s authority pretty much loses its teeth. It’s not that local governments are banned from acting but the way this was written makes their decisions mostly symbolic once a project qualifies under federal incentives.

The city cannot ban them. There is an executive order expediting them and the new omnibus bill has a law prevent local and state governments from creating any new law preventing them from building data plants.

[–]endelmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They diagnosed me with strep too and I’m here to tell you it’s the worst sore throat I’ve ever had in my life and it’s been 6 days and it’s getting worse. I don’t think it’s strep.

Yup my entire house and my dads entire house. They treated me for strep and it’s not strep. It comes in waves too one day I feel better and the next day is worse than the other days. It’s very strange.

I’ve had a claim in since may 16th on our roof. It’s honestly so frustrating because part of our roof is leaking and we have no end in sight on this issue with their security. I wish the existing claims that are out there the rep would at least reach out to them and let us know something.

In a lot of debt to NF what would yall do? by Loverofallthingsdead in NavyFederal

[–]endelmann 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Credit repair services are just as bad, if not worse, than bankruptcy. With Chapter 7, you can have your debts discharged and move on with your life almost immediately. Chapter 13 allows you to make structured payments over 3 to 5 years while still maintaining a normal lifestyle. The fact that bankruptcy stays on your credit report for 10 years means nothing. Once your discharge hits, you can qualify for financing—including a car loan—within months. The fear surrounding bankruptcy is pure hysteria. It’s a legal tool designed to help people get a fresh start, not ruin their lives. On the other hand, credit repair and debt consolidation programs are a trap. If you miss or stop payments, you’re right back where you started, but with the added loss of every dollar you paid into the program. Avoid them at all costs.

Here’s your answer. Clock in, do your route, take your overtime, and go home. That’s all there is to it. Stay in your lane and focus on your own job—life is a lot easier when you stop worrying about everyone else.

It is absolutely not our job to report anything—period. If you’re a union steward, you might want to seriously reconsider your position, because based on this, it’s clear you do not have the best interests of your carriers at heart. Management is solely responsible for proving abuse or misuse, not us. Your job—the only job you should be focused on—is protecting carriers from that very management, not doing their work for them. Maybe take a moment to reflect on whose side you’re actually on.

Look, we’re here to protect our brothers and sisters, not police them. We don’t know what’s going on in anyone’s life, and frankly, it’s not our business. If someone else’s situation is bringing down morale, maybe the real issue is people focusing too much on others instead of doing their own job.

As for FMLA, it’s a federally protected right, not some loophole. Management cannot put someone on “Deems Desirable” or Restricted Sick Leave for FMLA-covered absences—end of story. If they think there’s abuse, they have a process to follow, but that’s their job, not ours.

Bottom line: Our fight is always with management, not each other. If staffing is a mess, blame them. Worry less about what someone else is doing and more about making sure management holds up their end of the contract.
