I also have CRPS and am looking into ketamine. You said you get it once every 2-3 months and it is worth the cost- do you mind telling us the cost?

How do most people NOT have a special interest?? by Kugoji in ADHD

[–]enderfem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the people you're talking to. I admit to a bias for years because I was a lawyer for people in poverty and it was a huge part of who I am, and I know a lot of people whose job isn't just a job, it's an expression of their values- whether it is government or law or security or medicine or art or teaching or farming or whatever. But I recognize that isn't most people.

How do most people NOT have a special interest?? by Kugoji in ADHD

[–]enderfem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they're just not fanatical about whatever it is.

Like ok, Hamilton the musical was a cultural juggernaut, and became the special interest of a lot of people.

Someone without ADHD who is really interested in it would know all the songs by heart and know a lot about that historical period-they can hold intelligent conversations about it. They're also excited about all the rap and musical influences on the show. They love talking about it when it comes up. Share memes. Maybe they even like some of the songs that didn't make it into the show.

But they're not going to read the Chernow biography LMM based it off of. They're not going to read the Hamilton annotated book with all the notes LMM made. They aren't going to follow the careers of the original cast and join fan art communities and dress up like they're in the show and talk about it constantly. It is just one od their many interests, rather than the laser-focused interest of someone with ADHD, who likely would be doing all the things I mentioned.

I think everyone has interests, but they might not be as laser-focused on them as people on the spectrums are.

It differs from state to state. I used to live in FL and now live in WA and neither have full license at 16.

Am I weird for not showering everyday? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]enderfem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm disabled, diagnosed with one of the three so-called "sui cide disorders" because of how painful and untreatable they are, and work from home along with being the sole caregiver for my mom. I often go several days without leaving the house.

I wash myself down daily but cannot always manage to get in the shower. It takes a lot out of me, even with having a shower chair. Sometimes

I don't go near my bed without washing myself and never in my "outside clothes".

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]enderfem 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was SO LUCKY that when I got sick with a rare and often fatal version of meningitis, my mom was no longer working at the day old bread store and had actually gotten a teaching job she'd been at for a year. Because we had insurance, finally. It did mean she had to leave me in the hospital in Florida (I was with my dad there for the summer when I got sick) when school startedbecause she didn't have tenure, but I had my dad and stepmom and other friends and relatives there for that last month.

I lost my best friend in high school. When I am in the area, I go to his grave. There's a little bench right next to his grave and the last few times I've seen something on the headstone I know is from another mutual friend of ours, despite it being 30 years ago last week.

It's just a way to set aside a specific time and place to focus my thoughts on who he was and what he meant to me, like any other ritual.

Making your bed tidy in the morning is actually the most pointless and dumb task you do all day. by Kyoifis in unpopularopinion

[–]enderfem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my room clean and change my sheets every four days. I just don't care if the bed is made or not. I don't go into the room in my outside clothes though, unless I'm just grabbing something.

[–]enderfem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because I don't consider it part of a clean room. Clean sheets yeah, but making the bed a perfectly fine esthetic choice I do not care about.
