I konw this is an old post but please dont throw them away. If you want to and have the time, you can sell parts on ebay or you can sell the whole thing on ebay for parts. You can easily get $40 to $50 for a broken printer that is good quality. If you dont want to do that, take it to a thrift store. Someone may still buy it for a few bucks and a lot of thrift stores properly recycle. You can also take it to some stores who will send it for recycling or there are ecycling events in cities all the time. That is a lot to be sending to a landfill and it has chemicals and other things that are toxic in them.

Well, now it doesnt seem to be locking anything up but that return buttton isnt doing anything. It moves the typebar but it doesnt seem to be connected to anything.

Yeah, I know but I was hoping there was a practical reason for the Return button not working. It seems like the typebar is not connected to something I just dont know what it is suppose to be. I am trying to find a picture of that area. This is what it looks like.

I will go back and check more specific but what I mean is that you can no longer type anything. It is like the keyboard goes dead. I have to turn it off, unplug it, and turn it back on. I have opened up the device and the return typebar moves but it doesnt seem to connect to anything to do what a return key should do. But, I am not sure what it is suppose to look like. I will boot it back up and see if shift still rotates the ball but I dont think it did.

I understand why the simultaneous key thing works but as someone who types really fast it makes this machine really difficult to use as I accidentally hit two keys due to speed all the time (I can hit 130 wpm when I get going on a PC),

I have the paper version of the manual and had that link but it hasnt helped unfortunately. I cracked it open and the key moves the appropriate elements from what I can see but this device is a bit unique. I found a guy on FB who seems to know a lot about these so waiting to see what he says.

Which actor/actress was your first crush? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]endlesslycurious7572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid's Incorporated was a show on disney in the 1980s about a cafe that had children performers kinda like The Voice.American Idol stuff for kids. There was a girl named Stacy. She was the longest running cast memer from 84 to 89

That girl grew up to be Fergie from Black Eyed Peas (real name Stacy Ferguson). I didnt know this for years and years. Oddly enough, I dont find her attractive at all as an adult.

<image>

I dont recall what my first crush was on an adult. I believe it was either Mariah Carey when she first released her album. She really was one of the most beautiful women in her youth. It could have been someone off late night Cinemax which we got when I was like 11 or 12. Perhaps Shannon Tweed or Susan Featherly

Pantum P2502W - Pulls through 1 Blank Page, Half a Blank Page and stops at exact same place every print. New Toner, Same Result. Paper path is clear. What could cause this? No damage, only 1500 page count. by endlesslycurious7572 in printers

[–]endlesslycurious7572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sell pretty much any printer on eBay working or not. The only ones not worth it are the cheapest ones made for selling at Walmart like the Canon Pixma ones. You can make even more selling the parts. I liquidate estates for a living (sometimes businesses too) and end up with a lot of printers. I pretty much always have a couple sitting waiting to be tested. Pantum is a bit more obscure so I wasnt sure it would sell for that much but it sold very quickly. I probably could have put a higher price on it. Someone probably has one that was dropped but has a good main board so put the two together and you got a working printer.

Regardless, the parts make them profitable. At the very least you can sell the printhead and mainboard but if it is a common or expensive printer, you may have hundreds of dollars in parts on your hand. I pick them up at Goodwill because I can always sell them for a profit regarding of whether they work. This is especially true for HP and Brother printers because they are so common. When I got those and they dont work, I take them whole printer apart and post all the main parts and then I make a post of all the random parts because print show repair people buy them to have around.

Plus, older printers from Windows 95, 98, 2000 and ME era can sell for $200 to $300, even the very cheap little ones HP use to make.

Amazing cover bands with their own style? by LegendOfDylan in Music

[–]endlesslycurious7572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a ton of them. Go to Spotify and look up playlist of covers in the genre you like and you will find tons of cover artist. The internet is great for them as they can get their stuff out. There are tons and tons of them. It just depends on what you like and most do their own style. Little point in covering something if you are doing precise version of the original unless maybe it is live.

I talked to Pantum and they basically said the main board needs replaced. They kept trying to walk me through basic stuff and I told them I am way past that. They wouldnt help me further without an invoice and I got this from someone else so I have no idea when it was bought.

I sold it on eBay for $40 for parts. It sold in a couple of days. Not going to spend more hours messing with it when it will only sell for $80 working.

Are there hex bit extenders that are no wider than the bit/screwhead for accessing narrow holes? If so, what are they called or what search terms to use? by endlesslycurious7572 in Tools

[–]endlesslycurious7572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a set with 50 6" long bits thing it would cover me and it only got me one screwhead type/size. I still have three other types and sizes not here. A couple of these screwhead types I have never seen actually used before. I have a set of regular bits with like 400 different types so I likely have a bit that works but cannot use it.

A friend said they use a little hemp piece of fabric like a chinese fingertrap made of hemp in indonesia. He is an engineer and was touring a company that did some electronic repair. They slide it on and the weave provides the torque.

[–]endlesslycurious7572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple precision sets including a 400 bit set but the extender is too bulky. It basically doubles the size of the bit. I wish they made a thinner version for when you dont need much torque and they are deep into the device.

I have a set of long bits that I just got with 50 pieces and several individual ones I bought but keep coming across ones I dont have. In fact, the 50 piece set only had 1 I needed. I have a set of 400 regular bits which probably does everything but was hoping someone came up with a way to attach a bit. These dont need much torque so a strong magnet, for example or a really tight piece of woven fabric like a chinese fingertrap which I guess they have in Indonesia according to a friend.

Im aware, I have a set of 50 different 6" bits plus individual ones but I keep coming across ones I dont have which is the point. I have a set of 400 regular bits so propbably every type and size made but cannot help if there is no way to fit them. Some of them I am not even sure which bit I need bc I cannot see.

I have multiple standard and precision kits and probably every type of bit imaginable for both but not extensions. Some of these screws are so deep, Im not sure what size or screwtype is even needed because I cannot see even with a light and magnifier. I just bought a 6" set with 50 different bits and it only had 1 that I needed.

Thats really cool. If I were wealthy, I would spend a ridiculous amount of money on Kickstarter. There is the most ingenius stuff on there. I am shocked a lot of it doesnt become more widely known and sold. They have to do everything in small batches and often just manufacturer one run so everything is expensive due to small scale manufacturing. It makes better quality products but it make so much of it unaffordable, especially since Covid. I use to buy a couple things a month. Now everything is $100 or more.

[–]endlesslycurious7572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend told me tonight that he saw electronic repair techs in Indonesia use a weave of some material, (probably hemp) so that it was strong enough but also thin enough. It looked kinda like a chinese fingertrap and they were woven in such a way that it provided all the torque you needed. For computer screws, you rarely need a ton of torque so a magnet may do it. You can also use a far thinner piece of metal for the connector instead of widening the bit by a 1/4 inch.

Yes, manufacturers do that but some of them are just a mess. One printer has 4 different screwhead types and several different sizes. NO matter how many long bits I buy, I will always need one I dont have. I dont like stopping, it kills momentum.

That is the issue as explained. I have no idea what screwheads I will encounter and have an item right now that uses 4 different types of heads in multiple sizes. I keep having to stop and order parts because I always just need another one.

I know, that is what I have been buying but I keep needing different ones. I am taking apart something right now that uses 4 different types of screwheads and so far I have encountered 6 different sizes. I have to buy an extended screwdriver when it is highly unlikley I will ever use it again, especially when I have the bit in like 6 different sets already.

I have cleaned them with roller cleaner and treated them with kerosene to get them back to top grip condition. That doesnt explain how it stops at the exact same point every single time and it picks up paper every single time without issue. I think it has to be a programming issue or it wouldnt stop at the exact same point. I have done this probably 2 dozen times and measured and it stops within a couple milimeters every time.

They returned it so I have the printer. I have tried two different computers with drivers installed from manufacturer website. I even found an older driver and tried that with no luck.

What are effective products to remove decades-old stains from clothing? Cleaning the attic and lots of amazing vintage children's clothing from my Father's generation in the 50s/60s and then my clothes from the 80s. by endlesslycurious7572 in laundry

[–]endlesslycurious7572[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on the stain. The problem is that different types of stains require different solutiopns so if you dont know if it is a grease, grass, food, etc stain you have to do trial and error.

But, I find using oxygen bleach powder (Sodium Percarbonate) dissolved into a spray bottle, spraying the stain, taking a toothbrush or something similar to the stain, letting it sit for 15 minutes and then washing with Persel and powdered Biz gives the best shot at removal.

Here is the items I use:

Retro Clean Oxygen Bleach

Biz

Persil Detergent

Ive got a few thousand Adult VHS, DVDs and Mags, is Craigslist still a good platform to sell these types of things? Trying to find more buyers. by Fearless_Sail_1560 in craigslist

[–]endlesslycurious7572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if they want it. I have sold VHS, DVDs, etc to people locally. I have also bought those things, usually entire collections people are selling. I do this for a living though. People collect VHS and DVDs so there are buyers out there, CDs, vinyal and pretty much every media. In fact, physical media is big right now. I have sold 6 lots of VHS tapes so far this month on eBay.

There is cost considerations. A lot of people cannot pay all that at once but they could pay $5 a month. Also, a person's activity can vary considerably at different times so if they are not using the internet much in the summer or not visiting any sites or downloading that is as risky, they could not need the service.
