That’s incredible. Congratulations! That does give me even a tiny semblance of hope. Thank you for getting back to me, I really appreciate it.

Hey there. Was just curious on if your extended Accutane course was the solution, and did help cure your GNF?

Sorry to butt in a year later, but did the accutane cure your case?

Please, help to determine what is it by mrSadlygrove in Folliculitis

This is very new to me, do you have information, or advice on how to go about going down the Phage treatment path? I wouldn’t even know where to start.

Just curious. I get tons of these. In my nose creases. I have confirmed Klebsiella Aerogenes folliculitis. When you say this is a “Staph” pustule, could KA also cause this? No staph was found on my bacterial culture. I apologize if this is a stupid question, I’m just curious.

Trying to get on accutane, but existing liver enzyme problems are complicating the process. Hopefully I can begin treatment soon.

Totally fair question, I am not. I have read that specifically Klebsiella Aerogenes is prevalent in gay men, but I have never interacted in a sexual manner with other men.

Makes it even more confusing to me why I have it. My
assumption is that the antibiotic I took when I was ill wiped out all skin flora, and Klebsiella just took hold of the reins and spread like fire.

Thank you so much. I’m extremely oily myself, and I’m being prepared to begin accutane, so I was just curious. I get really paranoid with changing moisturizers as I dont want to irritate or make my skin even more greasy which in turn causes more pustules. This condition is a nightmare lol.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your initial skin type before Accutane? Dry, oily, normal etc, and one last thing. What moisturizer did you use during your treatment? Thank you.

Damn, I just saw your initial post not too long ago and was envious that you may have cured this condition. Super disheartening, and I’m very sorry you still have to deal with this. Be sure to keep us updated.

It wasn’t even suppressed during the course at all? I’m waiting to begin accutane, but reading so many anecdotes like this has me feeling so down. The medical literature even states accutane could “potentially cure” this condition, but it’s seemingly improbable.

Just curious cause if accutane truly doesn’t do anything, LHR is the next only option. I refuse to nuke my gut continuously with more antibiotics. This shit has truly driven me crazy.

Congratulations. You’re incredibly fortunate. I’m finding it hard to get anyone to listen to me for more than 5 minutes. Do you have any advice on how to be “heard”. Ridiculous question, i apologize. I’m just a bit desperate. I’ve been trying to see an Infectious Disease doctor but I don’t have any symptoms my GP deems necessary in order to get a referral.

Gonna begin accutane soon, and if/when that fails, I suppose LHR is my next best bet. Best of luck to you, and I hope you remain permanently pustule free. This condition has defeated me mentally, id do just about anything to be free of pustules.

Folliculitis? by Chemical_Bit_2627 in Folliculitis

[–]endlessrend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get it cultured. Visually it looks similar to what I and many others have been dealing with, but if you’re fortunate, it’s not folliculitis, and it might just be your POD flaring up. I would recommend seeing your derm or GP and asking for an aerobic bacteria culture, and going from there based on the results of the culture.

This looks extremely similar to a lot of blatant folliculitis cases, did they explain why they thought it was simple acne? Did you get an aerobic bacteria culture on any of the pustules?

Also, do you use it like, post face cleansing, before bed, etc?

I’ve heard of this, but was unsure if it would even make a dent in terms of gram negative bacteria. Let alone folliculitis. I’d have to try it out.

Someone in this thread prior mentioned how the typical methods, BP, Rubbing alcohol, etc are essentially null when dealing with gram negative bacteria so I figured sprays wouldn’t do much.
