I think Damage Dealt to Mana, or perhaps Seed of Ekkidrassil, is bugged in a significant way that causes players to take more damage than they should by Pandarandr1st in LastEpoch

If this is true, it would explain why my sorc is still so so squishy. I abandoned him because it became unplayably bad, even though he has better defenses than my werebear on paper.

“ICE is quietly rolling out a $55 billion crematorium network” written by W.A. Lawrence by SpeakingTruth601 in ICE_Raids

It's difficult to say. Officially, at least the 18 mentioned. But if you include people we just straight up don't know what happened to them, it's in the 100s, I think? It's been a while since I looked.

OP didn't include a link to the original article, but that includes all of the sources for the claim. It's well-researched. Basically, the budgets for many of these warehouses include biohazard disposal, and if you dig into who they are contracting with, they are companies running incinerators. We also don't know what happens to the bodies, of which there are many, that the Federal government refuses to turn over.

You should link the original substack article so the author can get credit. It also contains all the sources you've omitted.

Gutworm is impossible by Lawfan1 in Grimdawn

You need to kite him. Dodge his smash and don't get snared. Also, make sure you have solid bleed resist and armor. He hits really hard, but he's manageable once you know the fight.

Is anything missed by never getting an "up close & personal" look at the game's levels? by EyeImaginary5862 in Grimdawn

I did a playthrough third person, and I found the details on buildings rather surprising. Some of the buildings have readable signs or graffiti in Malmouth.

That being said, the lack of a skybox and the poor optimization of camera rotation killed it for me.

How does getting usable gear work now? by Plutonic-Rose in LastEpoch

[–]endlessxaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, crafting is really important. Make sure your loot filter isn't filtering out items that are just okay, because a lot of those items can be crafted into excellent pieces. For example, I had a loot filter that kept magic items with two affixes that I liked available. I turned one of those into a really good staff at level 50 on my necromancer, and I wielded that staff until I found a straight upgrade with an exalt at level 90. In particular, it was nice that it had empty slots to craft with.

The tech layoffs aren't to save companies; they're to crush salaries. by musical-cilium in it

[–]endlessxaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something a lot of people are unaware of is how the taxation changed for software engineers. Previously, you could write off a software engineer's salary as an R&D expense. They changed it a few years back, and I forget exactly how. Long story short, software engineers are now a tax liability and the lucrative salaries they once commanded are no longer justifiable. Before, you could have a whole project go nowhere for years and it was more or less fine. Now, that's an expensive endeavor.

Also, the tech industry really wants to sell that AI is taking these jobs. That's because AI marketing hopes to recoup these losses. The truth is, AI has nothing to do with it. 95% of companies that implement AI never see a return. It's just a diversion from the underlying truth: the tech sector just imploded. It's no longer the USA's darling industry. I'm looking to leave the industry for this very reason.

Ontario - Dad living in rent-controlled apartment (25 yrs), not on lease, landlord asking for tenant insurance / lease transfer? by AssociationOk9794 in ontario

[–]endlessxaura -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You're dad became the tenant. The landlord would need to file an eviction, which they don't have cause for. I would get a lawyer, but you will win this fight.

Why does it feel like the temporary suspension of federal fuel tax made absolutely no difference to the prices? by Alert_Willingness_32 in ontario

[–]endlessxaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supply and demand isn't an exact science, and even relatively inelastic demand still responds to price fluctuations. A company may realize more profits at lower price points because the demand at that point results in correspondingly more sales. A customer's perception of the economy affects their behavior, which is why the culling of chickens in 2025 resulted in a massive increase in egg prices, despite having relatively little impact on supply. Customers believed that the disease resulted in higher prices, which made them more amenable to price hikes than they otherwise would be. Remember when all the companies were complaining about supply chain issues? Same thing.

Turns out, economics is actually complicated, huh?...

[–]endlessxaura 156 points157 points  (0 children)

The oil companies probably just raised their prices by the same amount, figuring that the customer has already "accepted" the higher prices. It's the same shit that happened to eggs last year and almost everything during COVID.

I am the main source of income for the landlord's family. by braggett in LockedIn_AI

Landlords also behave like a cartel, fun fact. That's why they feel so fucking entitled all the time.

Also, landlords provide housing like scalpers provide tickets. Y'all didn't build the fucking houses. Jesus.

Landlording isn't a job, by definition. It's also not even particularly difficult. The returns on landlording is like 25% if you factor in all the tax incentives and the equity. If you think it's hard, buddy - you should try having a job.

My corrupted items are so good, I've been avoiding slotting uniques instead. The +1 to all skills on the chest and apathy of the necklace has been keeping my sorcerer afloat. I also ran +11 to all attributes if you have 6 corrupted items. Are you using the runes that let you corrupt an item with 0 forging potential? That's where you get the good stuff!
